Sad, but true. I can confirm this.

Sometimes i think my wife don`t want me to improve my thai.

She just uses the words i know, so i cannot learn new words with her.

Just to clear it up

เบ he, she, they (kao)
เร we, us (rao)
ผม I, me (male) (pom)
ดิฉัม I, me (female) (dee chan)

first and second one there should be a sala 'a' character there at the end, but that key isnt working on my keyboard at the moment.

Alot of the Thai to English conversion is very subjective according to who you learnt from and how they interpret it. You can and will get different answers from different people.

Those accents are hard to get.. Cow could mean like 3 different things correct? White, Rice, and I forget the other ones.. if you say it with a different tone.

i think if you went to a class, as jaybee is, and learned thai, the bg probably speak in slang and you would probably be able to understand them a little but if they do not want you to know, they could speak where you wouldnt know what they were saying. I was in Chiang Mai and my TG didnt understand everything that they were saying up there

One problem is if I begin speak some Thai, then they think I speak very good Thai and then I dont understand anything

Yes, but you don`t have to say you understand thai. Sometimes this is very funny.

One day i went to mcdonald and the thai stuff speak about another customer as "a fat guy sweating like a pig". But usually they don`t speak so.

i know that anytime ive spoke the limited thai I know when ive been in a taxi or other non-tourists places, the thai people got a huge kick out of it.

yeah .. i realized that too, but then they start to talk faster and I get lost. My favorite words are "mai cow jai!!!" "pood thai char char" sometimes I end it w/ por favor.. hahahha.. Then they say mai cow jai.

I speak a little Spanish and some German, and once in a while get my languages mixed up, too.
