Appointment Books or Handheld?

well, i guess i'm old school. i have an appointment book and a pencil. i thought about getting a "device" but i can't really see it working for me. knowing me i'd lose it, drop it, break it, delete it, flush it, run over it etc....then i'd be screwed!

I bought my planner at Sally Beauty Supply. I love it. It's big and bulky and I have not lost it! You know I've lost my cell phone about 239472349723 times last year and already about 4 times this month! I haven't yet lost my big bulky appointment book! :

I have a paper book too... Although I'm technically inclined, I just never really got into using my palm. Mine is years old now, got it free with my computer. Inputing data was tedious for me. I only ever played games on it. Besides my book gives me a place to shove paper notes, receipts, etc all in one handy place.

I am hooked on Windows Mobile on my cell phone. Since I schedule and maintain my contact database in Outlook it was an easy choice for me.

Just have to remember to sync the phone to the computer regularly, but that has not been a problem.

And it is kinda cool... when someone calls to book I can flip through my calendar while talking to them to find a date and time and then schedule it in the phone calendar, get home and sync it with the computer one.

Also, Outlook has this category box that you can designate so doing your accounting for the month with regard to income is really easy.

I had a palm pilot a couple years ago, before I was an MT, and loved it, except for the tiny detail of it's need to stay charged. It doesn't do much good when it runs out of batteries. And unlike a cell phone (unless the cell runs out of batteries too :roll: ) you can't have someone call it if you've misplaced the tiny thing. [Yes, I have issues.]
So, I have a paper calendar. A big one. I miss my little planner which, while bigger than a palm pilot, was easy to tuck into a decently sized purse. But it wouldn't fit enough info for massage appointments and personal stuff, and I'm into centralizing things. Haven't lost the big guy yet!

Besides my book gives me a place to shove paper notes, receipts, etc all in one handy place.

I use both an appointment book, and my Sony Clie. If the palm fails, and my pc takes a nose dive (don't laugh...I lost both my laptop and my pc in one week due to HD crashes) I have the hardcopy for backup.
