Aromatherapy Wholesale Supplier

Having spent the last few weeks trawling the internet for a trustworthy/inexpensive supplier, following the demise of Cotswold Aromatherapy (my previous source of oils), I came across a company called [link=http://www.mantra-aromatherapy.co.uk/]Mantra Aromatherapy[/link].

Unfortunately I did not find them until AFTER I had shelled out over £80 on supplies from Amphora, Essential Oils Online and Aromantic!!

However, I placed a small order with them anyway since their prices were unbelievably reasonable - and I am delighted with the quality of the oils, the speed of delivery and the overall customer service. They even sent two 10ml bottles of essential oils as complementary gifts!

I spoke in person to Julian, the owner, who explained that the company has been established for 15 years in the mail-order market, and they are now branching out on the internet.

Sorry to sound evangelical about it. It's just that if there is anyone looking to find a supplier, it's sometimes difficult to do so without some form of recommendation from an independent source.

I realise that as a new member of this forum my word may not count for much, so I'll leave it up to you to judge for yourself whether or not to try them.

Glad my info was of some use! Please post again to let me know how you get on too.

One of the products I bought from Mantra was 500ml of pure Aloe Vera gel (which was only £9.85!).

One of my clients suffers from Roseacea (spelling?) and can't really tolerate having her face massaged with oils (even the mildest essential oils and the lightest carrier oils) so I usually just leave that out of the treatment. But I am going to suggest to her next time that we try a very gentle massage with this Aloe Vera gel (maybe with a drop of Rose Maroc added?) because I think the cooling effect of the gel together with its known therapeutic properties might help her.

I would be grateful for anyone's thoughts on the subject.

That sounds lovely! I've also ordered some of that as I use it in a cream that I make for eczema. It seems to calm the itching down. I spoke to Julian yesterday and he was very helpful. A point to note is that they only accept cheques on the site at the momnet but will be having a credit card facility soon.

The prices are unreal! I have ordered a catalogue, cant wait for it to arrive I hope the quality is good, im sure it is. I have spoken to Julian too, he is very helpful. The only thing is like Pooky has said they dont take debit cards. Never mind, we cant have everything at such great prices!

Just to say that Mantra Aromatherapy now accept online payments via PayPal. They will still accept cheque if preferred, however.

But if you are like me then the idea of an online payment method is so much more appealling!

I recieved my order today, like Kitten i am very pleased with the quality, i will be definatley ordering from them again, and they are both sooo helpful. I ordered the pre-blended energising massage oil, its very nice.

Very interesting site and good to see that they accept Paypal. I shall certainly try them out although I have had my oils from Tree-Harvest for many years now and their prices are on par with those of Mantra. They offer special rates for students and therapists.

I can't believe it, I just spent £10 on 5ml of Sandalwood - and they are selling it for just over a quid for 10ml. Are they definitely pure oils? They must be, surely they wouldn't be allowed to sell them if they weren't?
Mind you, I have always thought the usual prices were a bit high - I have paid less for sandalwood even before I registered as a trade customer.
I think I am going to give them a go next time I order. Thanks for your help!

I used to work for them. I left as things werent going well with customer satisfaction etc and it upset me trying to sort things out for them.

I ordered a few things from them - 2 bottles of blended oils in fact and it took them over 6 months to deliver them to me. This was around september last year. I was so cross, they told me they would redeliver and put some complimentary items, but when I eventually received it there were no complimentary items or anything - I told them it was for business and I needed a reliable supplier - they apologised but frankly I can't take the risk so I never used them again. They said they were associated with the BBC so I trusted them.

With regards to Cotswold Aromatherapy, I think (reading between the lines) that Julia and Ian have split up and that's the reason the business has folded. The last time I accessed the website Julia had changed the wording to say that the company was "...family run.., owned by Julia Allcock...." and the photo of the two of them had been removed.

It's a bit of a shame because their prices and quality was good. But I agree that their customer service was pretty poor. I used to wait ages for delivery, and when I sent emails requesting an explanation I did not receive replies. I suspect they just did not have the staff to cope with the level of orders they received.

In the past I've worked in various natural remedies/product companies - including those who import in essential oils for product manufacturing and selling to the public. As such I've had to deal with many of the manufactuers and understand about the quality of oils and the prices, as well as basic ingredients used in creams. Believe me, I thought it was all just a ploy to rip off the public, but the price really does reflect the quality. I can only speak for the manufacturers that I have dealt with and the companies I worked for, but I always ask for more background information from my suppliers now. They have to do various chemical analysis and quality control before selling them and if you ask them they do have to supply this information to you. This shows how pure an oil really is. Also ask for country of origin, sustainability of plant, is it organic etc. These things are very important for me as I only want to provide the best for my clients while being environmentally aware. Just as a final note - The Sandalwood tree is currently under threat from being over farmed, and as such the price as almost trebled around the world. Christine Wildwood (aromatherapist and author) is currently trying to stop all suppliers from selling the oil until a more sustainable source is found - many good suppliers have stopped selling the oil even though they will lose money. I have stopped using this oil myself - and understand that a good sandalwood oil in the shops now as also almost trebled in price.

I'm sorry if I've gone on too much, and this really is just from my years of experience both as an aromatherapist and from working for essential oil companies. It is also just my opinion........
