what's the one at 693 Bloor like?

I've only been to the 708 Bloor one, it's on the 2nd floor, up a narrow flight of stairs that's right next to a small Japanese restaurant.
The place has a small pink sign(with no phone no. on it) that has 2 Japanese characters on it. It's run by a Mamasan who's either from China or Taiwan. I think the place doesn't have a phone no., u gotta get the Mamasan's cell no. for girl/room availability info.

I thought all the other karaokes in the nearby area are just normal, "proper" karaoke places. Please PM or share here if 693 is similar to 708, Thx v much!

Sure, there is another one on sheppard/McCowan, go east on sheppard till you hit a small plaza on the north side with a Tim Horton and a Japanese and korean restaurant on the main road. I can't remember the name now, but if you hit the plaza, you can't miss it. Actually, that's club canton as leery reported earlier. It depends on the girl ....

Sushi Bistro 204 Queen Street West, 2nd Floor. Japanese Girls. Usually not too many though. Heard that the first Thursday of the month is a good day. Lounge but not a hostess bar.

Canton Karaoke - 4810 Sheppard Avenue East, Unit 222. Never been, but there are write ups.

XO Karaoke - 693 Bloor Street West. Lots of rooms, current music. No 'girls' for hire to my knowledge.

Twister Karaoke - 5586 Yonge Street. Rooms. No 'girls' for hire.

Manila By Night Karaoke Bar - 4949 Bathurst Street. Never been.

Fame Karaoke Lounge - 2901A Kennedy. Never been.

MHQ Karaoke Box - Pacific Mall. Strictly Asian.

Most places are 'boxes' ... anyone know of any lounges.

There's one right across the street from 708 Bloor. Not sure if that's 693 or not. It's in the basement as opposed to the 2nd floor. There are four private rooms with nice leather couches, good karaoke systems (if you like singing). It's pretty much the same deal as 708 Bloor except I found it slightly cheaper. Went there on three separate occasions last year. I found the quality of the girls varies. I've been with girls there that I wouldn't even consider dating. Like you said in your post, most of the girls at these karaoke bars are from taiwan, mainland china and japan. Some of these girls speak very limited english so you're basically relying on body language in some cases. I did meet a korean chick who had an amazing voice. You could say she's like an asian Mariah Carey. She was into cuddling. Takeout is available but it's based on whether the girl likes you or not. I haven't tried takeout as it's not my thing. My friends and I refer to these places as B'n'G (beer and grope joints). For those who have never been, I recommend just hanging out in the lounge area and have a beer. The owner or manager will usually approach you to see if you would like some company. Hope this helps.

does this place right across from 708 have a sign or somethin that's recognizable from outside? coz if i remember correctly there r like 2, 3 karaokes like right across the road.

yea u r right on about the "beer and grope" description, there's not much more that these places offer unless u luck out with the right girl. From my experience, the menagement in 708 and that place in Chinatown strongly discourage takeout, they have ppl to take the girls home afterwards etc. They only make their money from the drinks anyway so I'm sure they don't wanna get into any trouble for extras.

Also i find the 708 place have more girls available on weekdays, about 10-12 or so to choose from.

BTW i just did a Google search on "693 Bloor", seems like they host quite a lot of liveband events so my guess is they're probably "legit" and not one of these BnG joints?

Are you sure Tunnel is one of these Karokes that provide this service?... I go there all the time and don't notice a thing! Although there is a nice looking waitress that worked there a while ago that I would definitely take out!... hmm... maybe I should leave my gf home next time i hit up tunnel.. hehe

My buddy and I checked this place out, and yes, this place exists at 708 Bloor St. W. and is pretty much as described.

There were some 10-15 girls to choose from, including Chinese, Japanese and Korean girls. The drinks are pretty cheap, too.

Was told that singing in a "room" will not cost extra, but didn't take the plunge.

Saw this poor old Chinese guy buying drinks and gifts for all the ladies... quite sad actually, as this middle-aged guy is so bored and lonely just to have some company. These girls are either faking it well or are desperate for money and gifts, as the girls all treated him as a VIP.

All the people I saw there were Orientals... wonder what would happen if a "gwailo" walked in....

Just across from 708, there is a place called "Arirang". It is in the basement. I went inside this place and there was no lounge area to sit and have a drink. The mamasan didn't speak god english and he called a guy to deal with me, but he was very hostile. It seemed that he didn't want me there. I picked up their card so I will post their number if I can find the card which I left it somewhere at home.
Is it my assumtion correct that he tried to block me since I was there alone and I am not asian?
If anyone who has been there and wants to go again, please let me know and I will join you.

No, my buddy and I just walked up to this place, which is on the second floor. As for takeout, there were, I would say, 3 chicks which interested me. But they were all busy with that old guy.

I think they open at 8pm daily.

I knew a girl who used to work there (yeah... she was a KTV girl). She told me that Tunnel was one of her old haunts. Essentially Tunnel doesn't provide any girls on the premise. But if you push the manager/ the fat door man hard enough... he'll place a call and get a few girls driven in for you.

I guess he then gets a cut of whatever they make.
I'm not sure if it's still common practice with the recent LE activity at the EBC mps. But the last I talked to my friend was 6 months ago and it was still going on then.

I think 593 Bloor Street West is the Form Lounge. 2nd floor ... large lounge area, large screen on-stage karaoke, open concept. I don't recall any hostesses ... could be wrong though. I don't recall or remember too much from that night (aka sh*tf@ced dat nite)

I think there is a karaoke place on the main floor of the 593 which might provide the same service as 708 Bloor or even more. The lounge upstairs is different.
BTW, "ARIRANG" is at 699 Bloor st. w. If anyone has been there or going there please give us an update on your experince.

Korean Karaokes are called Room-Salons. The drinks and appetizers cost about $100/person and the tips for the girls are $100/girl. No extreme contact is allowed, but you get to spend hours (as long as you are drinking) enjoying their company and being pampered by their subservient service. You usually need someone to introduce you to the mamma-san to get you in the door. A hoot if you have a group of guys that want to hang out for the evening, but very expensive. No release there.

I did hear of a Room-Salon/Massage combo place at 7220 Kennedy. Haven't been there yet though.
