I dont know if this is the same guy or not but recently there was a guy from Toronto asking people about some of the best places in Edmonton. He was not from here. Im going to check my dms to see if I have anything .

I posted the notice on the Toronto site but have not recieved additional info on this asshole to track him down.

99.9% of stores / business have cameras for security. If you do nothing wrong and are respectful, no problem.... I think its good the owners and staff are protected. BTW she has large signs posted at the entrance indicating security video is being used, the asshole is just plain stupid thinking he will get away with it. For F#ck sake you can't even pull into a gas station without being on camera now and everyone has a phone camera. That's just the way it is. LOL, I was out hunting deep in the bush and came across trail cameras.

Trouble is he's probably just in town for some reason and decided to get free services before he continued on his way. Might be back next year- whatever- long after he's been forgotten about and he changes his appearance and tries again. Not much anyone can do about him.

People are naive if they think a camera on-site is a big deal. Once you head to Europe, even in the UK, security cameras are everywhere. And it is a good thing if you aren't doing anything wrong. Couple that with all the pings between your cell phone and zillions of cell towers, location driven apps, credit card use, etc, say good bye to "stealth". Most of this is benign unless you are a criminal.

But if you have also been using wechat or tiktok etc, guess what, just about every action in your life is being tracked and archived. What purpose? No reason at this moment. But all data can be sold to parties who find a purpose. And if traveling in China or other nations where China technologies are being implemented then advanced facial recognition is already in full effect. All your innocent social media presence.. Linked In, Facebook, Company website people profiles etc etc, photos are already catalogued and providing sufficient background. Not surprising that products from companies like Nvidia are in high demand

In this line of work most providers have their guard up with new clients until a trust is established. I think that is normal and is a good thing.
It's sad a really sweet caring amazing friend got scammed like this.
Sooner or later the jurk will re-surface, hopefully he will get a taste of Alberta red neck counselling.
