The human trafficking element doesn’t work quite the same as in EE gangs. The girls who are providing for their families back home are doing so because that is what is expected of them until they get married. The families don’t know what they are doing in most cases. For a few, I’m sure they don’t care. In any case, they get into spa work because the pressure on them is quite strong. In some cases, the spa owner rents the house on behalf of the girls, and charges them to live there. All their extra money is sent back home, but I know of at least one spa owner who was making a profit this way off her girls. They worked extra hard and often just to send the expected money home. That’s just how Chinese society is - the girls serve their families until marriage, and in some cases are forced to marry a man from a wealthier family, who pays her family for her. The so-called “bride price”. God help the ones who don’t produce sons.

There could be recruiters taking a cut too, and promoters who push certain girls online for a price separate from what the spa itself is paying. It can be pretty easy for a lonely, stressed girl to be taken advantage of. It may not be human trafficking in the strict sense of what we normally consider it to be, but a lot of these girls truly are victims of their culture. Others have become truly mercenary and have learned to take advantage of everyone they come into contact with. They are the apparent success stories, but have actually just become cold hearted whores.

One thing you all have to remember is about 70 to 75% of these girls are here with no families, no real friends and living in rooming houses or basements and supporting their families back home. They are working at the spas 5 to 6 days a week and all they have is some co worker friends, no relatives, no boyfriends either. Some who have been here long are single mothers with young kids. So there were times they feel lonely and if they found someone they can trust, they tend to open up and talk about their personal lives. Pls be kind to them and help them as much as you can without taking advantage of them. Driving them to here and there on their day off is one I do most of the times and you won't believe how happy they're if you take them to Costco and such. I am dealing with them every day and I know what some of these girls are going through. Trust me, some of their lives are not easy as some of you guys think. Some cried alone after having a rough day at the spa cuz they can't talk that to anyone and don't want anyone else know what kind of jobs they do.

The mpas to a certain degree have a choice unless you are pimped. Not every immigrant or newcomer come here to work in the spa industry. In fact I know a lot of people working in China Town earning below minimum wages just to get by. Do I feel sorry for them? Yes and no. They know what they are getting into. They are no difference than those men and women who do porn for livings. People have the misconception going to foreign countries will yield them honey and gold. in reality that is not the case especially your education credential and not knowing the country's official language will be barrier for them to thrive.

I met one mpa before who I saw a few times and also went out with her a few times. At some point she started to open up and I took it at face value what she told me....later on a few more sessions, just out of curiosity, I started asking how her family is doing and some of the stuff she told me. She did contradict quite a bit of what she said mentioned before which I was not surprised.



My lesson is not everything they say is true...some are just to get you in and ensure you can be an ATM machine.
