In restaurants and when taking a taxi libre I prefer using pesos. I don't do street girls, but if I did I'd probably pay them in pesos. I normally pay escorts and bars girls in dollars. (I suggest those who use dollars get lots of one's and five's as getting change for a twenty or hundred can be difficult. Assuming the mesero doesn't head for home with the change for a large bill.)

BTW, I seldom pay entrance fees. Usually if you make a show leaving you can get in without paying an entrance fee.

BTW, street girls do bargain in dollars, but very rarely ask for a better exchange rate if you pay in pesos.

The difference is day to day. In Tijuana now the rate is around 11.0, and in Zona Norte the business generally use 10.0 as it is easier to figure. So by buying $100 in pesos, you can get value of $110.

Several years ago when the rate was 11.4, I canged $20 and got 228 pesos.

I went to the hot dog stand and ordered 2 bacon dogs and paid with the $200 peso note, and since he takes dollars all night he gave me $18 change.
I still had 28 pesos and now $18 as well. If I would have not done it then I would have only had $18 by paying with a $20. This way I pretty much turned $20 into 23 and you can see how this can help in the long run.

I always use pesos for eating in restaurants.
However, for the girls in Adelitas and also street girls they like
to quote in USD. There is not a big diffrence , in using pesos or
USD. in TJ.

You generally will get more mileage from your pesos. I don't go to the bars often, but use pesos if the exchange rate makes it less expensive to do so. I almost always use pesos in taxi's, but they very seldom have change and sometimes I am forced to use my dollars to make the right amount. In restaurants I generally pay in pesos. Watch the rates on the wall as sometimes they are favorable to use dollars.

Hey guys:
I have been in the Miami bar a few times. Basically, that is a dancing hall with
Mexican musics. So, you must like the Spanish songs to stay there and enjoy
the atmosphere. I don't know very much about Spanish eventhough I
took couple semesters in college Spanish courses couple years ago.
The girls will push for drinks when you were there . However, you can always
say No . The waiters may try to hook you up with some girls for drinks too.
Now, this is a fun part for Me. I can have a dance with any available girls sitting
at the front row of dancing seforum.xxxe just for 1 USD. per song.
For the hotels part , you can ask the girls while dancing with her.
Majority of the girls don't speak English. My Spanish is very limited , however, I
always get by with some simple phrases or survival Spanish as you call.
I very seldom to pay more than 50USD. for a FS. with BJ. Most of the girls
will go to hotel Vamos HoTEL, if they feel comfortable with you.
However, their looks are couple notch below Adelitas .

Also, I found that I like the Spanish music and the Miami bar is a good
place to relax with some dancing girls for 1 USD. per song.

I suggest those interested in learning about local's bars start in the Zona Norte by frequenting some “dime a dance” places. (You need to wander around the ZN a little looking for these places as some nights local's bars are dead and other nights they have locals drinking and dancing.) It forms a transitional bridge and is a good test of you linguistic abilities. IMHO you need to speak Spanish fairly well if you are going to succeed in the colonias of Tijuana.

Titanic, 7deCopa, and Cueva are all fairly well known bars in the La Mesa area. Africa in La Prensa is also fairly well known. Most cab drivers can find them. They are good places for those venturing out of the Zona to start.

RocaMar in Colonia Buenos Aires Norte on Calle Villa Fontana is another place to try. (But it’s somewhat dangerous.) Marabu on Cucapha Blvd. is a place I’ve herd about but haven’t visited. It is supposed to be something like RocaMar, but not as dangerous.

Sorry, but I'm not going to post the names of the places I go to meet semi-pro and true civilian chicas. Some are in the colonias and some are downtown. (I'm a old man and I don't need you young bucks around competing with me!)

The way to learn about local's bars is by making friends with some “working class” locals. Somebody like your novia's brother-in-law is a likely source of information. If you can get a local to invite you a neighborhood party or extended family function then you're likely to make all sorts of helpful contacts. Having a place in TJ is also a great way to learn about all sorts of things that most gringos don’t know about.

Some guys have the idea that if they get out of the Zona things will be cheaper. That’s not necessarily true. (Drinks and fichas in some local's bar are more expensive than in the Zona.) Others think they will score easier. Also probably not true. (Try some places, like Gato Negro in Mexicali, if that’s what you really want.)

There are various reasons to visit local’s bar, but price and selection probably shouldn’t be on the list. These are places to improve your Spanish and see “a different world.”

Those who don’t speak Spanish well probably shouldn’t explore local’s bars as many (poor) areas of Tijuana aren’t overly safe for gringos. I suggest you don’t drink too much either. (Getting drunk in a colonia where nobody knows you isn’t wise in my book.) Getting a cab at a local’s bar isn’t always easy. So I suggest you either carry a Telecel with the numbers of a few cab drivers you know who will come get you, learn how to use the collectivos, or prearrange a pickup with a trustworthy cab driver if you venture into these areas. (If you don’t know the collectivo routes and/or have a good relationship with a couple of cab drivers then IMHO you aren’t ready to venture into the colonias.)

I have been in T.J. for decades . I did not trust any other bar besides
Adelitas, Chicago club, Hong Kong , Miami. and some alley bars just
to watch the girls . You may try different places . However, beware
the rip offs . I stay where I know and can enjoy the most.
