The only Thai's that don't like it are the out of towners that are visiting the beaches and interacting with foreigners at the beach for their first times. Those local to Phuket have gotten used to it and don't blink an eye.

Euros are pretty non body concious.. Topless women walking around near the beach isnt shocking and granny wouldnt blink. I remember the first time I went to a mates holiday house where they had a sauna, everyone just stripped off to sauna naked and my 'british reserve' was tested.. Whats norms for one culture isnt measured in a granny of another IMO.

All the beach boys I talk to at Nai Harn and Kata appreciate the fact that women are topless and in a thong. They don't blink, they just stare and admire. Could be why kids splashing about in the water aren't being looked after properly by the "lifeguards".

haha, You just triggered a memory of my first nude beach experience in Santa Barbara, California. It was a bit of a hike from the main road and then a walk down the side of a steep cliff. Very self concious, but that only lasted till we got stoned and started throwing the frisbee along the shore. And I was 23 years old so had the body to back up my exhibitionism. 555

Hmmm, where was this? I know Pirate's Cove by Avila beach close to Pismo beach, but haven't heard of any nude beach in SB in all my years there.

It was called Mor Mesa between SB and Goleta. You had to walk through an avocado farm which has since been developed into homes. Maybe near Hope Ranch.

honestly...if you go to Surin Beach and take a lounger there you will be among similar company....there are virtually no Thais on the beach (only the guys who serve you)...its 99%falang and most women are wearing thongs and are topless

of course this applies only whilst on the sand....and best if you can get a front row lounger
