You started out saying "I asked Jodi to maybe lower her rate a bit as I'd like to see her."
That has nothing to do with increasing her business. I don't recall Jodi mentioning that she didn't have enough business. If she said "business is really slow, what can I do" then advising her to lower her rates would make sense. But you just want to get it cheap. That's to benefit you not her.
I find Jodi's rates to be extremely competitive for the market. If it ever happens that she is getting less business then she needs, then perhaps she'll consider lowering her rates. But otherwise "Wah, I am cheap but still want to see you" is rarely an effective argument.
