Jack, your post just reminded me of my pet situation. The very same thing happen to me. My ex and I split up seven years ago. When we first hooked up, she wanted a cat. I grew up with a dog as a young boy, so I wasn't to crazy about the idea. It's not that I hated cats or anything like that. I've always had a great love for animals. But I was never really too partial to cats. I think I believed all the horror stories about people who have had them. So because I was in love, I agreed to let my new girl friend have one. It was one of those Bodega cats. I think they use them to chase away the mice. Long story short, my ex left me to pursue her singing career, and I inherited the cats, three of them now. But I tell you bro, I have no regrets about it. Not to come off to sappy here, but I will never abandon them. Where ever I go, they go with me. I guess it's that unconditional love you get from them, that makes them so special to me. Don't get me wrong here, it's not that I don't like people. But I've been fucked around by people so many times in my life, that unfortunately has made me a cynical person. Anyway, thanks for that email Jack. Brought back a lot of personal memories for me.
