Can a POF profile be too good?

Serious inquiry here...

I have spent a few weeks updating, tweaking, putting up better photos, and generally awesomeizing my POF profile to the point where it now just rocks. The problem being, I am now getting such an influx of messages I can't respond to them all. I have always believed that it is just common courtesy to respond to each and every one, but now I just can't keep up. I'm starting to know what some of the women are talking about now, and for the first time I can sympathize.

I'm not stating that all messages are from the type of woman I'd be interested in dating, far from it, but heck... at least I'm getting messages, and in an overabundance.

Should I just unawesomeize it a bit, or not respond to all messages? That site is just taking up too much of my time now. Honestly what would you do?

100%, there is not one single thing that is not true, or even embellished. I have just chosen my words very carefully, added some not no normal humor, and tried to make it different from the thousands that are on there already. Further, I have made my intentions known, and state exactly what I am looking for. There is not so much as even a white lie made.

Ok, I have written about my beef with cheesy photos before and since we're on the subject of POF profiles, here's a pic from a profile.....this is SO cheesy all you need is some toast and you could make yourself a grilled cheese sandwich!!!

No lies, but are you intentionally misleading women sometimes?
Sometimes that's the only way to get your foot in the door. Do you participate in the forum?
I've had about 8 responses and 1 date in several years from POF, I think the site makes each of us more jaded and less human so I'm avoiding it now. I'm not one of those with high expectations, I'm very realistic about my qualities. :neutral:

A form letter is a good time saver for people you don't want to meet, you can personalize it for each person but having something to copy and paste will help with the difficult "thanks but no thanks." You can also put a disclaimer on your profile so people know you will not respond to certain emails or that your response times may vary.
It's nice to want to respond to everyone and I agree it's the best way to go about it but at the same time sometimes it's simply not possible and time management is important, your own life takes priority and if you are not able to respond to all of them you simply have to accept that and move on. Posting something in your profile stating that you really appreciate all the wonderful responses you've been getting but have not had the time to respond to all of them and as such will not respond to emails that are "a, b, or c" in the escort world these are usually rude, vulgar or explicit but you might say something like ones that do not have a photo, are not located in x city or are not interested in ..."
Or you could do the reverse and say that messages with an interest in ... will be answered first or people that are looking to meet in person will be given a priority, that way if you can push for a face to face within a few exchanges rather than a long drawn out email exchange, that will also reduce your screening time and allow you to go through the PM/emails faster.
