Can you come back with out a PASSPORT?

On average I cross 3 to 5 times a week. About 1/3 of the people I see crossing still don't have a passport, only a DL.

(A Mexican-American who speaks English with an accent I expect would have a problem crossing without a passport, but most people won't.)

Not really. I know one guy that crosses about 3 times a DAY and he has no problems. I know others that come regularly with no passport, and only a DL and they get right through.

I was down to TJ 6 weeks ago without my passport-- I told the agent I lost it in Mexico-- So he asked me a few questions and let me back without a hassel.

I wouldn't want to do it again because they have you me record as crossing back without it. If you are doing this alot they know and may make a problem for you.

I haven't seen a line longer than 10 minutes in the last two months and I have probably crossed 15 times at least.

If born in US , as implied in your inquiry , he has all rights of all citizens as guarranted by the Constitution of the United States. He/She has evey right to enter his Home Land but it will certainly take a while for the Feds to agree .

If waiting in line to cross is not sufficient anguish , then to attempt to do so without required documentation he should expect a long self imposed purgatory.

You can cross with you DL only. I have been crossing more than usual this past month and have seen TONS of people crossing with just their DL.

I don't believe anyone has been fined, but then I am not there all day either. I don't know anyone that has been fined, but I do know several people that cross regularly without a passport.

I was there yesterday and when I was in line, a man a few people in front of me only had an id and birth certificate. He was at the front for about 5-10 minutes before they took him over to the secondary area (where the immigration people and customs people are sitting down). He was there another 5 or so minutes, then they let him go. I am sure if he was fined, eforum.xxxged on the computer or just heard a lecture. I am like gmbrldx, I always use my passport, and I am planning to get a pass card, just don't want to send my passport in.

Some say they have been getting back across without a passport. They say they are just getting a lecture from the agent that they need to get their passport or pass card as soon as possible.

Others say that you will be fined or, at the very least, stuck in secondary inspection for a few hours cooling your heels.

Personally, I do not know which to believe. I always carry my passport with me when I go to TJ. I want to get my pass card so I do not have to risk losing the passport.
