You don need to know Shanghainese as your PuTongHua is good! All of them understand you!

Where is you hotel? Xu Hui? It mostly depents on you "Class", the heapest one can get is RMB300 / shot, 500 / night.
This is lowest, and depends on luck. For better class, maybe 1k~2k...

which depends on where you go.
If you go get some some BBS like service, Yes. You may pay more than the locals.
But if you go some higher quality serive like SN house. they will trade the same as local. In this kind of place, they don't care who you are. You may got better treatment if you become a "old shopper".

I'm Chinese but born and raised in the US. There is a possible opportunity for me to elect to work temporarily in Shanghai in the near future.. I'm wondering about the P2P and dating scene there.

First of all, I've heard rumors that the locals pay much lower prices in the brothels and massage parlors. I can speak Putonghua nearly fluently but I don't know any Shanghainese. Is it possible for me to pass as a local in most cases?

Also, how open are the ordinary women age 20-25 to a casual relationship (I'm 25 right now)? By ordinary women, I mean those that I try to approach on the street, in malls, buses, massageplanetes, etc. (IMO, those in bars/clubs, like those in brothels, are only good for a fuck or two.)
