Christmas gift for massage therapist - what is appropriate

As an update to anyone who cares: I got both the chiropractor and the massage therapist a card and wrote about their time, skill, and energy and how I appreciated it. I got the chiropractor a gift certificate to a restaurant he goes to a lot, and I got the massage therapist a gift certificate to the mall near her house, each for $30.

Ace, that's nice! For me personally, whenever a client of mine remembers me with a card, gift, or even a heartfelt thank you, I feel so rewarded!

hey ace, that's awesome. if a client were to give me a gift of either cash or a gift card, i'd much prefer the gift card. with cash i'd probably stash it with the rest of my money and wouldn't use it for anything specific. with a gift card it does 2 things....lets you go out and pick something that maybe you wouldn't normally get or a little something extra to splurge on and second is it's gives you a reason to go out and shop! hooray! (not that i ever actually NEED a reason to shop!)

I got the best gift today...i went shopping with a friend...she was redeeming a gift certificate at a candy store in town, and the owner of the candy store told me that in the last week he has had 2 different people tell him they think i am the best massage therapist in town....

That made me feel GREAT today!!! I havn't even been at it for a year, i guess i just had a good instructor and learned a lot from her...

Great gifts, Ace...personally, for me, just a card telling me how I had helped the client and that they were willing to refer me somewhere...would be enough.

Sad ending to the story... : My massage therapist was grateful for the gift certificate to the mall and thanked me when I came tonight. Then she let me know later sort of by accident that she's moving by mid-year 2 hours away and going into another career...It takes a while to find the right MT that you feel comfortable with so I guess it is back to the drawing board...O well!
