How big is the spread of the HIV virus in Phuket, Patong, is it a big problem over there as in many other less rich countries? I mean, how safe is it to be with girls over there, many reports of HIV infection? and does the bars check up the girls status before they hire them or something like that? ..and if you want to have oral sex with a girl, then best way is to use an cut open condom as protection, right?

So many threads about it... thera are not 10.000 solutions, if you want so be safe, use condom, if you want to take the risk, it is up to you and up to the girl. I have not found on Internet so many cases of HIV reported in Phuket, more in the North as Thai men use to go with prostitutes and then bring the virus at home, and in Phuket, most of the ladies need to make a test every month, although it is not so much a security for you.

For oral s*x, less risks... to cut the condom means you don't wear any protection, so forget it

Dom, I think what he means to say is that if you are going to perform oral sex on the girl, that to be more safe, you can cut a condom and cover her pussy with it whne you are going to lick her!! Nobody really knows for sure whether it is a big problem in Phuket. On the one end of the debate(which has been conducted many times on this forum), you have Big Al, who claims that rates of infection are very high on Phuket, that he know several farang men who have it, and that a lot of BGs have it. According to him the rates are soaring because now a BG can get the anti-HIV drugs that can keep the infection from showing up, so that they can live a very normal life while being HIV+. But because of that(according to Al), you have a lot of BGs who need to make the money to buy the pills. Prior to effective HIV drugs, they would start to get symptoms, then go to their village and wait for the end to come. Now, they must stay and work to pay for medicine, because there is no other way they can make enough money for the pills.

Also, Eurogirl claims that the kind of HIV in LOS is primarily subtype E, which(according to her sources) is much more easily passed on through oral sex than the subtype prevalent in Japan, Europe, and the Americas. Therefore, so goes her argument, that HIV is spreading more easily and therefore more rapidly in LOS than other places.

This topic has been hotly debated and there are those who disagree more or less completely with the views of Big Al and Eurogirl, and maintain that they are alarmists and their assertions don't hold up under the weight of known facts, applied logic, and close scrutiny. In this camp, I believe you will find LivinLos, as well as quite a few other BMs.

It is commonly asserted by most that logic dictates that if the situation was really as dangerous as some would have us think, then the numerous guys that have bareback sex with BGs would be coming down with HIV left and right, whereas there are only two confirmed reports(outside of Big Al's), that I am aware of, of this happening. One is a friend of Richie007's friend, who took a BG back to Australia, and it turned out she had HIV then he was tested and got it also, presumably from her. The other was from a nurse in England who works with numerous HIV patients, many of whom are hetero men, one of whom thinks that he caught it in LOS.

Also, I would guess that probably about 90% of the BMs, who go with BGs, do not use condoms for oral sex. Perhaps we shoud take a poll on that one, as I have no basis for my contention, other than my sense of it.

So, make of it as you will. It is all about the level of risk one is willing to undertake. And yet, with such widely differing opinions, it is not at all easy to accurately assess what the true risk is!

I heard an interesting take on this through the mind of a BG last week. Her theory was that TG who had thai boyfriends were more likely to be positive than straight forward BGs who only went with Farangs. Her theory was whilst the thai girl stays at home and keeps house, boyfriend is out dipping his wick in every available place possible, and so he is far more likely to become infected and pass it on to his girlfriend.
BGs, on the other hand, or, the vast majority of them practise safe sex.

I would not put in % how many girls would do it without it, even without paying any extra! The last girl I had, just jumped on me after the BJ. I was allready in and had to push her away and lecture her!

On top of that many Bg's get drunk often, what makes them les careless again!

But if you ALWAYS use condom and even when you performing oral sex, then it is no chance of getting the HIV virus, right? I now that in theory it can be transmitted trough kissing too but I have checked it up and no report so far on that happening what so ever. But Bg maybe not are so into kissing anyway?

Tin tin is right about unprotected sex...............after several drinks with Nicke and alot more before meeting him in June and in a drunken stupor i saw a hot BG 2 bars down from MTB.i took her back to my hotel and fcuked her about 5 times with 3 of those times being without a condom. She was great but i was extremely annoyed at myself for being so stupid. As a further update the guy who found out he was HIV positve from his BG are still together and yes still alive/...the cocktail of drugs they take have not diminished their physical appearance or health to date but to be honest it really does scare the shit out of me

I will have the test next week! I am NOT afraid. But I became extremeous causious. I did it once without a condom, but that is more then a year ago. That came out ok.

I have to get tested every 6 months, because of my work in a hospital. At work I always have to wear rubber gloves, at play I probably play safe 95% of the time. It's still risky but I'm at more risk of HIV/HEP C in the U.K.
