Delisted - Sunlife Benefits

Intersting that so many of the delisted providers were from Alberta. BC had only one spa delisted. I’m sure that same violations of Insurance Co rules occur across Canada.

I only listed Alberta.

Chiropractors, Orthotics suppliers and Orthopedists all on that list. Clearly board members have been missing out on most of the real fun.

Didn't know that plans were so specific. Allocations for chiros .. dedicated? Wow. My flex program allows me a variety of services, but I can use it to buy a weight rack for my home gym too. But to have dedicated funds for chiros.. that must be insurance coverage for government employees

I was in there about a month ago and some guy was arguing with one of the attendants and asking to change date or issue a new receipt but attendant refused. Not saying 100% for sure but they could have been so pissed off that he reported to sunlife and ruin it for the rest of us.

Thanks for the list. Some of my other usual places seem to be delisted as well like Strathcona and Labella. Now on the hunt for new place that won't raise questions with the ball and chain.

Exactly. "Discussed" openly on this site is how they end up on that list in the first place. A guy really has to have shit for brains to not know by now that Insurance company investigators especially Sunlife get majority if not all, of their evidence from big mouths on this site. I say sunlife cuz its the only one talked about on here. Sure it's a review board, but giving details is what has ruins it for the rest of us to use benefits with some favorite places.

Yes AB very likely has the most delisted providers/locations. Why? Because it's the most active board in Canada. Other provinces are much smarter. They enjoy their experiences without publicizing locations, billing info, extras etc on their massage planet sites. That's what I call total discretion.

Only Alberta was shown,.... the actual list across Canada of delisted providers Sunlife will refuse is 210 pages long!

Most of the RMTs and the Business entities that get delisted are involved in manipulation of receipts. If the masseuse who gives you the massage is not the RMT that provides you a receipt with their name, registration on it, with correct date, address, phone, price and time length of massage, then expect problems to develop. End of story. RMTs whose receipts are being used by others won't just run into insurance company problems, eventually they will be dealing with CRA tax fraud problems too.

Obviously if they are being reviewed often for a variety of non-therapeutic services, and their name or the shop address (used for receipt purposes) is popping up on review boards, chances are pretty high that they will get de-listed.

The Asian providers have hidden behind their 'Anglicized' name which is usually not part of their formal 'receipt name', but insurance companies are getting a lot smarter. However, I don't think that a good RMT who works in private has much to worry about if she is very selective about a few YMMV clients who get additional treats, and only issues receipts for legit therapy work. Insurance companies are far more interested in abuse of RMT licenses and receipt fraud where the masseuse doing the work is not the one who is writing receipts.

At the same time, don't recommend that a highly skilled and legit RMT choose to work from a shop with names like Gentlemen's Dream, or Lickety Lick

For the benefit of those with Sunlife and plan administer changing July 1 to Canada Life the following may be of interest to you.

Massage therapist	$500 per calendar year	Increased benefit from $300 to $500 Prescription not required If $300 of massage claims were incurred before July 1, 2023, an additional $200 can be claimed for services incurred on or after July 1, 2023 Starting January 1, 2024, massage therapist services can be claimed up to $500 per calendar year

Just being on sunlife doesn't mean these changes will be applicable. Within the sunlife/canadalife portfolios individual employers can design their benefit plans to suit the options important to their employees. It's not one benefit plan for all sunlife clients

It all depends on your own group plan. There is no generic Sunlife or Canada Life plan.

Oh they must be pissed cause the amount of admin work involved to try and start up a business name change and recertify the therapist to that place is a lot of work. It really sucks that sometimes, we are unable to keep it more discrete. Now here is another name change, the 4th now?
