I don't even know what verb you would use in a situation like this. "Gaslighting" doesn't fit because it's apparent Qinging is unable to critically understand the story he himself links to. His type of media consumer have on blinders of such efficiency that they are unable to conceive of anything that falls outside the narrative that's been drawn for them.
Case in point. Was Trump irresponsible and wrong to downplay the threat of the virus a year ago? Of course he was. Does it then follow that he was some kind of outlier where governmental response to covid is concerned? No it doesn't. Consider that at the time Trump called Democrat reaction to Covid a "hoax", Pelosi was encouraging people to gather in San Francisco, Biden was calling the decision to cut off travel from China xenophobic and Cuomo was saying New York will be "just fine" and Fauci was saying masks don't work. There is plenty of evidence for good and bad decisions on both sides, but if you uncritically accept what you see in mainstream media, the only narrative that is acceptable is the one of the orange monster. These folks are so divorced from reality at this point that I don't believe any amount of facts or evidence can reach them. Anything that doesn't fit the tribal narrative is simply taken evidence as the other side's bad faith.
