That was the calculus Fox made. It was the Risk / Reward calculation. A fox producer Abby Grossberg is suing Fox over Tucker’s misogynist and anti-Semite behaviour. Tucker would call women “cunts”. Tucker was also calling out Fox leadership. So, Fox settled with Dominion, is still facing a $2.7B lawsuit from Smartmatic and it doesn’t look like they will settle without Fox telling their audience that they lied. Tucker cost Fox big name advertisers that haven’t come back. Rupert made the call and is betting that Fox is bigger than any host and not the other way around. Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck and Megyn Kelly all left fox and became less powerful. Newsmax might pickup Tucker but they face a lawsuit as well and can’t weather a loss like Fox could. He could also go the Joe Rogan podcast type route. We’ll see.
It was only a matter of time for Don. CNN got a new CEO last year and started making changes. He got rid of the one person shows and moved towards more group dynamics. Don moving from his own show at night to a morning slot didn’t work out well. The harder hitting interviews at night doesn’t translate as well to an early morn8ng time when people are just getting their coffee and starting their day. He had to take some time off. His personality is better suited for those night time shows that CNN doesn’t want anymore, at least not as a one man show, leaving no place to go. He might show up later at MSNBC or CBS or somewhere similar
