Manchin is up for reelection. His state is 68% Republican and he’s a Democrat. If we wants to keep his job, he has to vote with what his state wants or they will vote him out. That means he will be at odds with his party on voting for laws. There are 100 Senators and the Democrats have 51 votes so Manchin can swing outcomes with that razor thin majority so the party will pressure him. Dana just challenged him why he doesn’t vote with his party and thereby putting Biden’s agenda at risk.

Could b wrong but I think Murdoch fired Carlson because Carlson was costing Fox millions over the false info he was reporting on the Jan 6 riots. Why would you want to keep someone on the job who is costing your company a fortune? You fire them.

As for Don Lemon, don't really like the guy (has nothing to do with his sexuality btw) don't know his story but was not surprised that he got the boot..Lemon can be a controversial character. Just like Donald Trump

That was the calculus Fox made. It was the Risk / Reward calculation. A fox producer Abby Grossberg is suing Fox over Tucker’s misogynist and anti-Semite behaviour. Tucker would call women “cunts”. Tucker was also calling out Fox leadership. So, Fox settled with Dominion, is still facing a $2.7B lawsuit from Smartmatic and it doesn’t look like they will settle without Fox telling their audience that they lied. Tucker cost Fox big name advertisers that haven’t come back. Rupert made the call and is betting that Fox is bigger than any host and not the other way around. Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck and Megyn Kelly all left Fox and became less powerful. Newsmax might pickup Tucker but they face a lawsuit as well and can’t weather a loss like Fox could. He could also go the Joe Rogan podcast type route. We’ll see.

It was only a matter of time for Don. CNN got a new CEO last year and started making changes. He started to get rid of the one person shows and moved towards more group dynamics. Don moving from his own show at night to a morning slot didn’t work out well. The harder hitting interviews at night doesn’t translate as well to an early morning time when people are just getting their coffee and starting their day. He had to take some time off. His personality is better suited for those night time shows that CNN doesn’t want anymore, at least not as a one man show, leaving no place to go. He might show up later at MSNBC or CBS or somewhere similar

Carlson is a cashcow. You don’t fire him and lose market cap which makes you lose more money.

His firing was ideological.

The beauty of it is he’ll land on his feet…not sure FOX News will.
