Endomyalgia??!?

I just got a call from a woman asking about wether massage would help her with her Endomyalgia. I have never heard of this before. She stated that it is similar to fibromyalgia, but the primary pain points are in the vulva & anus. Has anyone else heard of this?
I can't tell if this was a serious call or a whacko. She didn't seemed bothered when I asked her to check with her Dr. to make sure it miht have similar responses to massage as fibromyalgia. Anyway, any input would be appreciated.

My "creep" radar went off, but to give the benefit of the doubt, I searched Google and WebMD for endomyalgia and still came up with nothing.

I'm now curious to know if anybody else has heard of this??

Haven't heard of it, but it sounds like someone mixing up fibromyalgia and endometriosis terminology.

Never heard of it, and I have fibromyalgia (though my pain is not located there).

I would ask her to get information regarding her condition from her doctor so that you can research the best way to treat her appropriately. That will either get rid of her if she's creepy, or get you the info you need to feel comfortable working with her.

The only condition that sounds even vaguely familiar to what she describes is vulvodynia and it's not related to fibro that I know of.

polymyalgia rheumatica could possibly involve pain around the anus/vulva. At any rate, asking for clarification from her physician is the appropriate thing to do.

Ironically, I just had this conversation with a client today who suffers from sciatic compression and said he sometimes gets stabbing pain in the testicles and perineum. Obviously I told him I wouldn't work on either one : but that if treatment of the sciatic problem doesn't bring some relief, I'd give him a handout and article with stretching and self-care ideas.

How about referring this client to a PT who practices pelvic floor therapy? I had one women with similar complaints and sent her off and she has done well. The doc should be able to refer her.

Hi Ladies!
I really need some help/advice. My story starts with LAVH & removal of left ovary and tube 10/05 due to endo/adeno. Then 8/06 endo came back with a vengence to my right ovary, also swollen with cysts and my colon ended up attached to my bladder. Had Laparotomy 8/30/06. In all of my doctor visits, doctor has talked to me about pelvic floor myalgia. Went to physical therapy last year before hysterectomy. Worked great, but pain still related to endo was there.
So now here i am with NO reproductive system, 6.5 weeks after surgery with my abdominal pelvic muscles in spasms, my lower back in spasms. NO pain meds are helping....percocet, vicodin, tramadol, kataflan, wine
nothing. I WANT a muscle relaxer, but am too chicken to call my doc and say that for fear of being labeled a drug seeker. Does anyone else out there have Pelvic Myalgia??/ Also, I have managed to freak myself out that the endo is back (after 6 weeks lol) and penetrating my muscles. HELP!!! ADVICE, HOME REMEDIES, ANYTHING WELCOME!!!

Breathe, thanks so much for that link to PMR. I have a client with that disorder, and I was only able to find a little bit on the subject.
