Exams this weekend

Nearly a year of my life gone, 100 case study treatments,67 practice treatments, my house is a tip, my kids think mummy is grafted to her books, my head hurts my eyes ache, my brain is begging me to stop, only 4 more days of studing left before my IEB exams, I never want to look at another book again!
( Well maybe in a month or 2 I quite fancy that aromatherapy couse thats coming up!!!!)
What have I started, I suppose this is the joy of becoming a complimentary therapist

I remember that time well and the relief after its all over. I still pick up my notes and course books and read them through, it seems so much easier without the pressure of an exam.

You're almost there.

Oh, good luck. I remember the feeling well.

Don't start another course straightaway, you've got to get yourself up and running first! That was the scariest part for me.

I still look back to my case study days and think how lovely it was to give treatments without having to deal with the financial side of things and worrying where the next client would be coming from. In fact, I hanker after those times so much that I'm just about to start doing some voluntary reflexology in a hospice so that I can enjoy at least some time just giving treatments without all the business stuff.

Marketing material! Get those business cards and leaflets designed and ready to print, for when you get your letters!

I agree with gorseflower. Get all your marketing material together. Plan what your marketing activities are going to be for the year - introductory offers, what you might do for World Reflexology Week in September, Christmas vouchers, Valentine's Day, Mothers Day etc.

Also, plan out exactly what your treatment documentation will be. I wanted to use a slightly different consultation form than the one I'd had to use for my case studies. I created different consultation forms for different situations:
- full consultation form
- short form for demos
- another form for maternity clients with more specific maternity questions

I also made treatment charts with my one key typed on the side and made it double-sided so that I could write my notes underneath headings on the back - I've found this so useful.

I've remembered something else

I found A guide to Promoting Your Business: The Ultimate Workbook for Business Owners really helpful and would highly recommend it. It's like a workbook that you can fill in and it helps you work out your strapline and keywords, plan your marketing activities, how to write articles and get them published etc. It's superb and ideal for therapists. I still refer back to it now.

WooHoo! I passed my practical! So im half qualified!!!!!just now got the dreaded wait for the results. The a & p paper wasnt too bad , the refelxology paper wasnt as nice but I just hope Ive done enough!
Was nice to catch up on my housework though today.
