Too bad this is the case. As I understand it, Asians really do not want to share some of their culture in fear that it will be assimilated into Canadian culture. In effect, they feel that they will lose their culture. Does anyone agree or disagree?

Please give some details on what goes on at these KTV bars? Are they good looking? What sort of mileage is there? Please PM me if it is more convenient.

Thanks for openly sharing your thoughts from an Asians perspective. You do not come across as racist by any stretch of the imagination. In saying that there is no such thing as someone who is 100% non-racist, in my view.

This thread is turning kind of "loungy" but is interesting and relevant to the sex biz. I've known about the misconception that Caucasians are most likely LE, and no matter how you cut it, technically it is racist. It's maybe not malicious, but is none too thoughtful to say the least and seems like placing a judgement on someone due to their race.

From what I know, this line of thinking extends throughout the so called "Asian MP's to an extent. Logically, if someone were to go undercover they would do just that and undercover means blending in. So, by that logic you would think LE would send someone in who is Asian and looks like your "average Joe". Possibly the thinking that Caucasians may represent LE, stems from history.

I find your view that Asians being less open about sex and ashamed of certain situations interesting, because my impression has been the complete opposite. Of the Chinese friends I have, I find they are very open and less uptight generally than Caucasians of a similar social status. It also seems the Japanese are much less conservative toward certain "fetish's" and far more accepting of sexuality in general etc ... Maybe my perception on this is skewed, but it is only from my experience and exposure to it.

Anyhow, it's nice to see someone talking openly. I strongly sense there is quite lot of racist prejudice and stereotyping lurking in this community and the sex biz, from all sides of the coin.

Just like the Italians, or Jews, or any other culture ...

There is nothing uniquely "secretive" about Asian society in North America ... its just like any other culture who are non English or non French. In fact, there might be even stuff going on in Quebec that we Anglophones don't know anything about or don't have access to simply because we don't or can't speak French like the Francophones ...

Its like if a white dude was in Japan ... or a Chinese/Korean dude who, by physical appearace can't really be told apart from the locals. If you don't speak Japanese, your not going to get the same "benefits". How hard is that to understand ?

Furthermore, these karaoke bars with these "hostesses" would be considered sort of like a modern brothel and brothels are nothing to be proud of in which the Asians wanna share with the rest of the world with. It's an "ugliness" of the culture which we just wanna keep to ourselves ...

But Asians are not ashamed of their cuisine so we are not afraid to share it with the rest of the world ... but these karaokes are ... its a bad thing inherent in our culture. So if its a bad thing ... why would I wanna share it?

I think that the thing is ... Asians just like to do and but don't like to talk about it. Even if they talk about it, they'll "huddle up" whisper it to each other, but laugh out aloud openly. So, when you see Asians do this and act weirdly ... 9 out of ten times, they are talking about sex ... LOL

As for staying on track ... well, I have said all I could say to tell you what I think it is ... its up to you guys to decide what the fucks going on ...

I would admit that some Asians are racist, just like Whites are, Jews are. Blacks are ... but I can tell you that I am not a racist. I have already done my part as a Chinese-Canadian in sharing with you what I think and know about my own culture and Asian society in the sex biz in North America.

I was wondering why SubD got into so much trouble with what might have been a well-meaning, infomative post.

My interpertation is that the so-called PR thing is something culturally unique, according to SubD. But since the PR activities he described are NOT part of the Karaoke TV business, the owners are NOT OBLIGED to make it available to everyone. It is like perks, they can offer to anyone they want.

SubD suggested that these people might choose to limit this to "yellow dudes" or "whites accompanied by yellow dudes". This would be based on his perception of how protective these people are - I think he meant how "paranoid" these people are. SubD seemed to suggest that these people might trust "yellow" customers more.

What was the basis of this suggestion? SubD only saw Asian customers inside? How often did he frequent this place?

So, if I am right about the owner being NOT obliged to make available the PR thing to everyone b/c it is not part of their Karaoke TV business, then all the subsequent challenging questions regarding racism might not even be relevant.

My guess is the owners may not even want to make it available to all "yellow" guys, if they don't feel comfortable. They have eveyr right to be selective. That said, I am not sure if they are entitled to not allow non-yellow patrons to participate in the Karaoke part. You just might feel out of place. There is nothing unusual about this kind of business practice.

If Asians were racist, would you not think that they would also refuse to serve "Whites" food at a Chinese restaurant? In fact, Asians love to share their food with other cultures and peoples. When a Chinese restuarant owner has "White" customers he feels good because he feels that his food has universal appeal ... which transcends race and ethnicity ... and that is what art is all about (and cooking is an art) ...

Now, how many White people have been refused as customers in an Asian restaurant in Toronto? None ...

I always see White people at Pacific Mall enjoying themselves along side other Asians shopping and shit ... other ethnicities are always welcome in Asian establishments ... but yet, something like the sex industry is a shameful thing in Asia culture even though it has a rich and exciting history ...

Sex biz. is despised in Asiatic cultures and "prostitutes" are dispised. The reason why Asians don't wanna share this part of their culture with the outside world is because it is a shameful thing and nothing to be proud of ...

Not to mention that East Asians are very concerned about "saving face", kinda like an honor thing ... it would be a disgrace to let other people know how poor certain Asian girls are doing if they were exposed to other peoples as "prostitutes" ...

In some ways, every culture practices this particular form of exclusion. It's natural, and it doesn't always happen intentionally. Stop acting so immature like someone hurt your pride, it happens, move on.

I mean it is true that sometimes we are curious of other cultures and genuinely want to learn more. But in this instance, do we really want to know more about Asian culture, or do we just want to get some Asian pussy? Exactly. Stop being so hypocritical!

Besides there are other, cheaper and more convenient ways to have fun with Asian girls elsewhere.
