What are the benefits or drawbacks of freelancing? Im a bit scared to just approach a woman in a different country and suggest she stay the night with me.... are these girls supposedly better looking that the BG's or are they just not aas hardened by the life? Im definitely not naive here in America but fear i may act the fool in another country where the girls will more beautiful and different to me... Can anyone share some first times with Freelancers on this post?

Some of the best times can be had with freelancers, but you need to be careful and keep your wits about you. As for approaching...just sit back and let them approach you. As Georgelondon states, you will need to beat them off.

No, they are neither better-looking or less hardened. On average, I would say they are more hardened, as they tend to be more experienced than the BGs, many of whom are fresh off the farm.

The main advaneforum.xxxe of going with a FL is that you will not pay a BF, or pay for LDs for her and her friends in the bar. So it saves a few Baht.

The main disadvaneforum.xxxe is that if you fall asleep, and then she goes through your pockets/bags and cleans you out, then you will never know where to find her, and will never see her again.

C'mon man! What, are there separate written job descriptions for bg's and fl's?? They are essentially one and the same, and fall under the same category of girls that are what nobody here seems to want to say (begins with a 'P' and ends with a 'payoff', shhhh!). Half the so-called fl's are bg's after they're done with work. You pay them both for their services, same same. And getting ripped off by a bg rather than fl doesn't guarantee anything. Yes you will save yourself a bf, but that's about the only difference.

If it makes you happy to separate and categorize them, then that's great, enjoy. But it just doesn't change the truth.

Any girl FL or BG could steal no more then LT/ST money from me in my room. Ok they could steal some of my clothes or shoes, but anything valuable like camera, laptop, cash cards, passport,... is locked away or in the room safe. When the lady takes a shower I empty my wallet and leave only the fee for the lady (+ a few 100 bhat more).
Some easy precautions that avoid possible thieving opportunity.

I think the "risks" attached with picking up a FL are over-stated to be honest, remember that a good perceneforum.xxxe of those girls are just BGs who are going to discos later in the night for a/another customer.

Had a couple of pretty ordinary experiences in beer bars this week with girls who are just after lady drinks and who give much back in return, plus other behavioural examples I wont go into.

So apart from saving some cash on the barfine in these tough economic times!, FLs can make for a pretty uncomplicated night of fun where everyone knows what the circumstances of your "relationship" is going to be.

quiet a lot of bg turn into fl once there bars close....if you are worried that your girl is going to steal from you ...you are with the the wrong girl....trust your judgement.....if you are still worried lock up all your valuables and only carry enough baht for the night...if you are still worried go to her room...if you are still worried dont come to thailand....sanuk

In my experience the FL you see early evenings are those who cant socialise with other girls, they may be crazy or whatever. Later night there are the girls that works in bars but decide to FL and have fun, and they are normal girls and more stable.

I would be very cautious about the first kind of girls, they cant work in a bar because they are so instable and cant socialise with others. This is my experience, but everybody not same ofcourse, there are always exception s.

Twice I caught FLs going through my bags. Once a FL took a shirt of mine. Never had any of this sort of problem with BGs. So there is a difference, IMHO.

Sure, the BGs freelance at the discos after 2:00 AM or 3:00 AM, but who do you think all those girls in the discos are before 2:00 AM? They are not BGs, and not same same as BGs.

Also, lots of bars like Soi 7 Beergarden are full of girls, none of whom are BGs.

Having said that, I still sometimes go with FLs, if I see one I like. But exercise a bit more caution, especially if it is the first night with her.

Many BG's progress onto being FL's, being an FL requires alot more confidence than being a BG in terms of being able to generate your income without the support of a bar. Also the jobs can be interchangesble, alot of BG's will FL in lowseason if there isnt enough trade coming to their bar

The true FL tends to go out late at night and operates in Discos only, usually there will be a group of them as friends

A short list of different FL's by my experience

BG's - finished work at bar
Massage Girls - finished work at bar
High season BG, Low season FL
Crazy FL's - as Nicke said there are a few around and operate on their own (a very unusual thing for a TG)
True FL - operates with friends solely in Disco's, may go drinking in bars with their friends earlier in the night
Girls with normal 9-5 jobs or students - freelancing to hook a BF / Sponsor or just increase monthly income

Did someone say 'Tiger Disco". From 1am on, its FL heaven. I think both FL and BG have their drawbacks. A big thing for me is body chemistry when choosing a FL or BG. Is it March yet???

Sorry about that Jaybee, there was one FATAL flaw in my post....I meant to say "and who DON'T give much back in return"!!

I dont expect too much when I buy a LD, but I at least expect her NOT to sit with her back to me for most of the time, nor to try and solicit other customers into the bar as they walk by.

When the first three questions you get within 30 secs of walking into a bar are "1.Where you from? 2. How long you in Thailand? 3. You buy me drink?" its time to move on...
