Ive been to Phuket before and didnt venture into a gogo bar - i have a vague idea what they are about but could anyone give me a clearer picture on if the ones in Phuket are any good and how they shape up say to the ones in bkk or pats?

The ones I have seen in Patong are very small, but a standout was Suzy Wongs. Well worth dropping in.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------Patong HAD some excellent go-go bars several years ago - then it was RIP to all of them in spirit if not body under the New Social Order that was strongly enforced there from around 2003. Pattaya, through sheer weight of numbers managed to maintain a fun atmosphere in its go-go bars and they are alive and well today.

Found this summary on another web site - not a bad summary on go-gos and how they work - I'd say this was accurate circa 2005 - especially regarding more bare flesh to be seen on the beach....hopefully the go go scene will one day recover...some great memories there.

"Go-Go bars, in theory, have the hottest, prettiest and most sexy bar girls. But that is only in theory, in practice the smaller and less popular go-gos have girls in all shapes and looks. Standard in every go-go bar is a seforum.xxxe with steel poles which the girls use to dance around. Some girls will only hold on to it without moving while they have a bored expression on their face. Others will dance with their sexy butts moving up and down only a few centimeters from your face.

A Go-Go bar have from 2 to 10 girls dancing at one time. When it's not theirs turn to dance, one of the girls may approach and sit down next to you, starting a conversation and maybe ask you to buy her a lady drink. After a while it's her turn to dance again and who knows, maybe she will be back!

At the moment it's not allowed for the girls to reveal too much skin under "The New Social Order" by Interior Minister Purachai and continued by his successors. Some of the bars have or had shows, but in these hard times they risk being closed down by the police, but you can still be "lucky". A few bars in Soi Seadragon have boring puzzy shows performed by less attractive girls.
