Anyone interested in chatting about the Gong??

I'd like this to be an open and general discussion about anything to do with playing or healing with the Gong. What's your experience, got anything to share??

I'll start first. I recently purchased a 2nd hand gong and my partner has been playing it the last few days. The sound is amazing, and the resonance purely wonderful.

I'd love to learn more about its healing qualities, and techniques to play it.

I'm having a tad of a problem with slight sickness after it is played. Is this just a healing crisis? Do we play on? or have I not cleansed the Gong of its previous owners energy sufficiently enough. I would have thought a Gong would be a space/ energy clearer anyway.

So any answers to my questions would be appreciated, or just use this thread to talk about Gongs in general as well.

''Bump'' Never mind! Gongs, bells etc are tools to take one to the 'clap of one hand' so to say.
The sound is meant to take you to the 'soundless sound' the very source of all sound. Om or as bible says 'in the beginning was the word' The very source of creation.
The technique perscribed by ancient text is to keep hearing the sound and enter the soundless sound.

It is quite common that you can have nausea or headache in the begining. If it feels good follow it, see where it takes you.
Or just play the gong and enter into meditation. Generally bells etc can create an atmosphere that can help you go deeper within. The sick feeling is nothing to do with anyone, it is just energy, feel it, it will go. There is nothing to cleanse just be with or without gong.

Thank you for those wise words. I love learning as much as I can about the Gong.

The sickness has faded, it was gonged away, and replaced with such a open happy heart, it is so wonderful.

We play it a few times a day now, the resonation / vibration of the sound is so primal, grounding, and delicious it floods our hearts with joy.

Its funny, although it was expensive to buy, neither my partner nor I hesitated about buying it, nor did we feel any buyers remorse. It was simply meant to be ours. Now I can see why. It gives us such happiness and is a fantastic healing tool.

We were discussing the gong last night in our earth healing group and used it for some healing also.

Earth healing eh? That sounds interesting. Is it about sending Reiki to the earth?

I ordered a book online which is about Gong techniques and yoga. It will take about 3 long weeks to get here, can't wait.

I have seen people using little rubber mallets, about the size of chopsticks, to entice beautiful sounds out of the gong. I haven't seen any for sale yet. Has anyone seen them online anywhere? I have the large fake lambs wool ones. But the little rubber ones do a whole different sound.

Hi Rosi,

I checked all my newsagents and none have the Kindred Spirit magazine. Was it good?

I now have 2 gongs, yipee!! One smaller than the other, both have very different sounds, and sweet spots.

My partner and I play them together, its beautiful. Also got a few different mallets so the sound alters depending on which we use.
