We put the breaks on the spread of Covid so as to not overwhelm our healthcare system amd healthcare providers. There is a finite capacity our hospitals, particularly our nurses and doctors, can handle. It takes years to train new ones so we cannot afford to break them. If we break them, or burn them out, the deaths will rise precipitously if the Covid spread gets out of control.
