Sorry but I have to contradict. When you follow the scientific discussion you will find out your above statement only gives one of several opinions. There are some scientists which believe in this theorie about the contradiction of the subtype E like you descripe it. But the big majority does not believe it. There are studies among thai couples where one is infected with the E typ which show that the transmission rate is not higher like in couples which have the other types. That shows that your above stated theorie is - maybe - wrong. Other scientists declare that the database is just to small to proof wether this theorie is right or wrong. So in fact what you write is just a theorie and not proofed fact.

I guess the only truly acceptable response to most of you is that response you are desperately trying to justify to yourselves: Yes it is safe and great to have sex with anyone anywhere protected or not and you have no worries here in Thailand! It has nothing to do with saying that there is no risk. There is a high HIV rate in Los and especially among women in the business. Going unprotected is crazy and even with protection you may get it. The only thing I am saying is that the higher risk with type E is not proven yet and that there are a lot of scientists which state that there is no higher risk.

Actually I was refering to the enormous corruption and collusion existing between Big-pharma scientists and executives and governement medical institutions.
And the main drive that underline those relations is "profit" and surely not the wellbeing of people. The ammount of "scientific" studies that precede the approval of a drug that are not complete, inaccurate and misleading is astonishing great.
The agressivity of the allopatic medicine ( big-pharma) toward alternative or natural medicine is unbelievable! Afterall they patronize the medias around the world, all "official" scientific medical magazzines, almost all governative
medical wachdogs ( FDA, EMEA etc...) almost all medical associations ( APA, AMA ect...)

Dr. Allen Roses, worldwide vice-president of genetics at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Britain's giant pharmaceutical company, acknowledged at a scientific meeting in London that fewer than half of the patients prescribed some of the most expensive drugs actually derived any benefit from them:

"The vast majority of drugs - more than 90 per cent - only work in 30 or 50 per cent of the people," Dr Roses said

Dr. Roses is a geneticist from Duke University in North Carolina who is promoting genetic screening to detect people who are likely to be helped by a given drug. Scientists know the truth, but have deliberately concealed it from the public: most people are taking prescribed drugs that don't work. That means, most of the money spent on FDA-approved drugs is wasted! Another factor is that consumers of drugs are putting themselves at risk of drug-induced adverse side-effects.

FDA's responsibility is to promote public health by ensuring that only effective, safe drugs are marketed. Given Dr. Roses' admission--which another industry scientist acknowledged "will surprise the public but not his colleagues"--

Why, then, has the FDA failed to protect the public from fraudulent claims about drugs in the lay and scientific press, about the effectiveness and safety of new drugs?

There have been two reports on this board that I can recall. One was a friend of a BM. He brought his TG to Oz. She got tested when she getting checked up for a marriage license or visa and tested positive. Then he went and got tested and was found to also be positive.

The second case was less than 6 months ago, and actually was a link to another Thai forum, where a member of that board was feeling really scared, because he got very drunk, wasn't thinking, and had unprotected sex with 2 girls in BKK, IIRC. When he finally got tested, and retested, he was definitely positive. Very freaky as there were only the two occasions of unprotected sex, once with each girl. There is a thread about it on this board, with the link to the other board. You had to admire the guy for coming out about his situation, and his fellow board members were very supportive of him.

Tintin makes a good point here!! How many times have you had a girl going down on you, then she rises up, moves forward a bit, you think she is moving perhaps to kiss your face or chest, then all of a sudden, she has got your d*ck in hand and is shoving it in her pussy. Lying back relaxed and enjoying the pleasure, you find yourself very suddenly thrust into having to make a quick decision. I've thought about it and the solution is to pull out a condom when you get to the room and say, "We will use a condom, OK?" and get clarity on that. Of course, that is not very romantic, but perhaps necessary.

This brings up another issue. What about HIV education among BGs? The fact that many of them are having unprotected sex means to me that maybe they don't fully understand the risks and consequences of unprotected sex. Isn't part of the solution, that much more and better educaton needs to be provided for the BGs. So many are fresh from the countryside. They need to be educated better, and I think they need some system of continuing education that gives them constant reminders of the danger which they too often ignore.

not sure what u mean by proves.....AIDS is a definition. USA define AIDS when the cd4 count in ur body is below 350, or there about. Europe have set the borderline about 200. But with medicine u can be in the AIDS definition, but after some months on it, be over the limit. So few doctors are using the AIDS expression today. Not here in Norway, my friend told me that, who is still under the 200 mark, but climbing slowly. The problem is that u don't climb that much after the cd4 count drops, but u can stop the decline of the cd4. So again, better catch the virus early.

There are aslo different studies out there about when u should start the treatment. So says about 350 others 200, but also the virus count in the blod is important. Medicine can kill the virus in the blodstream, so therefore, u can maintain a low virus count for a very long time, thereby also maintain ur cd4 count. The problem with earlies medicine was the virus got resistant after years on it. Today, the new medicine has a good track record of holding the virus back.

Also says that oral transmission risk is low. Still scary and you have to be careful, but I think the high rate of hetero infection in Thailand is simply due to the fact it is a more promiscuous society. The sex industry is so pervasive, there is simply more extramarital activity occuring. It remains to be proven that Subtype E is any more invasive. The fact that it has not become more prevalent in the West after many years contradicts the theory.

Regardless, be safe out there and if you have played, get tested. If positive, the sooner you begin treatment, the better the chances you will never get sick.

Strange, because we have real pictures taken with sofisticate microscopes about all other virus!
