Yes a really good thread guys, we don`t realise sometimes how lucky we are in The West. I was averaging 7500 per day from atm without hotel costs and the average wage is around 5000 per month The guys and gals on those building sites really have it rough. I used to enjoy going to tg`s loom and chillin a while. They were always happy you went with them to see.
Sometimes wondered though if they`re playing the sympathy card tho :embrassed

To a certain extend I agree with Marky and Marc26. While in Patong and talking to my girl, I got a lot of ideas confirmed and learned more of their world. From their emotional perspective, it is quite hard to get into this world. Like somebody else mentioned, they share shitty rooms to save on their monthly expenses. I saw one of those. So most of them can send as much money home as possible.
Also don't forget that some people may treat them like a real toy and others give them a nice time.
I think I can honestly say that I treated my girl correctly and gave her more than fair money for all she did for me giving me a nice time.

But on the other hand it is their job and compared to other jobs, I think that the average BG make a reasonable salary based on Thai averages. And like Marc26 mentioned, they should find out quick enough, if they are so popular that they can survive. If not then they better look for another job.

Marc26, yeah, her basic daily wage was (is) 300 baht per day. obviously if she brings any custom to the bar and has drinks bought for her, then she will earn a little from that too. By my reckoning if she only worked on her salary, with no extras, tips or male company, she would be earning 1500 pounds a year????

It may sound like a lot for a BG in Patong but like the owner told me, he only employs 3 full time BG's all the rest are freelance, and as he also said, the lady I spent my time with was also one of his top customer attracters, as she is very very beautiful - not that that sounds good from my part, I guess.

and yeah Staffshot, she also took me back to her loom on a couple of occasions, and I felt really humbled, but as you say, maybe it's all part of the thais secret weapon arsenal of getting you to feel sympathy for them?

I am still in shock at the sheer beauty of some of these girls, and trying to get my head around what they do for a living - and on a daily basis - I know it is no different from a prostitute in Amsterdam or London, New York - anywhere really, but in a sense they are a lot more than that because these girls actually spend time with you, in some instances days or even weeks and no sooner have you waved goodbye as your getting into the taxi, to take you to the airport and you know they will be heading home to change and get back to their bar for work that night....... I know it's their life and their jobs but the sheer mental concept of being able to switch straight off from one person and start all over again within hours is beyond me.

Still, they have my vote, all the ones I have met were all very nice, polite and friendly girls - and I am not meaning I went with them all....

I found it a litle over the top when I was told, but the owner himself confirmed it. Mind you if one looks at the manner in which, like he himself told me, the bar fine covers her daily wage and leaves him a couple of hundred baht per night in profit, and especially if she is as sought after as it very much appeared she was - I guess the owner can feel a little bit generous with her as if she is with someone all month - even without her working, the owner has made around a hundred quid sheer profit for himself, after her basic wage?

Being from Holland and being able to compare the "Dutch scene" with the BG world, I think there is a big difference. Part of this you already mentioned. A Thai BG spend a lot of time with you and to a certain extend gives you a nice evening, night and wake up call. If you and her click, then you enjoy yourself together with her during your whole stay. Sure you pay for her company and services, but that is peanuts compared to here.

The average prostitute in Holland charges you about € 50.00 for one shot and some "distant affection". The average time of your stay is then around 15-20 minutes. Of course there are good ones and bad ones. Same for the BG's, as often mentioned on this forum.

Then we have the Thai massage Salons here, where in my view, the treatment you get by the lady is somewhere in the middle. Average price around € 65.00 per hour incl. hj.

My conclusion is that I prefer the BG way of working by far over the scene in the western world. As you could read before, my last trip gave me much more insight and I really respect the way the average BG lives and work. And above all give us guys a good time for a reasonable (read: cheap) price.

Lets say base salary here (police / factory work) could be 4 - 6k and a gogo girl can ask as much as 2k in a night..

Then a Policeman / basic worker in Europe before tax money.. 2k Euro per month ?? Maybe even closer to 3k before taxes.

So now go get an escort or pay a girl 500 Euro for a nights companionship.. With the idea you might do that daily for extended periods of weeks.. See how much attention they give you and how close they stick to you..

Its more simply relative wealth and how much they are getting IMO...

Good point, well presented - yeah, when you look at it that way, it does sort of explain a few things.

I must admit though, I do prefer to have a young lady for the 'Long Time' opposed to simply one night - it always makes me feel very sleezy when you have to pay them in the morning and ask them to leave - even though I know they are more than used to it and probably quite cool about it.

I prefer to check a few places out over a couple of days and not rush into finding a girl until I have met her a couple of times and chatted a bit, then if she is still free after a couple of nights, and I like her, I'll ask her if she would like to hang out with us while I'm over - maybe it's just me but I feel better about doing it that way and it doesn't feel as if it's a simple case of wham bam thank you mam - but no if this was happening back home, I don't think I would be paying the sort of fees you noted, even for short time.

Thats not unreasonable ... seeing the amount of carnage on that road ... it must be one of the worlds most dangerous roads ... seen crashed trucks, cement mixers, coaches, cars, and of course dozens of motor cycles and in heavy rain its lethal ... I'd never let my Mrs ride that hill.

As far as the original post ... seen the BG life form all angles (other than living it) .... I dont think any of us BM's could live in such conditions. Without education, no much by way of job options for the single Mom knocked up and abandoned by her teen boyfriend. I think most BG's live very tough lives and while the money that tourists bring can warp them, still think that its a short existance before burn out or health problems.

For me all the girls get a salery - but dancers comand the highest saleries and how many of us could dance 5 hours day in day out.

The girls rely on drink commissions for daily food etc, and the monthly salery in majority of cases gets sent back to support other family members or their kids. Sure there are a lot of sob stories but all in all its one harsh life and I'm happy to see any of the girls find happiness.

There are a few girls who are really into the money, sex side of things, but not many - it are this few that make the most money - often also can speak the best english (of other language).

Actually, If you look at LIL's numbers, it makes perfect sense. You prefer to have a lady LT, but it probably would not be so hard to find a LT lady in England at those kind of numbers. If the average Thai wage is 6000 and a BG makes 60,000, then she is making 10 times the average wage, If the average wage in Europe is 2500 Euro, and you were to pay a girl 25,000 Euro($33,000 USD, 17,000 pounds sterling) to spend every evening, night, and morning with you there, I suspect you would have no shoreforum.xxxe of takers. You could go around to all the massage parlors, check out all the hookers on line and in the papers, chat them up all you like a few times, then offer the one you like best $33,000 for the month LT, and see what she says!! I suspect plenty of them would go for it!

Of course, you haven't got that kind of money. But, for the guy who does, the world is his oyster. And when we go to LOS, that is the kind of money that we are throwing around, relative to wages there, when we pay a girl 2000 Baht for LT, which is the current going rate in BKK, with the stunners pulling a bit more(3000) in most cases. For $50, 000/mo(relative equivalent of 3000 Baht daily per mo), I suspect you could have your pick of many of the girls at a modeling agency, real stunners!!

as far as room conditions. i hear people always saying they see these bad rooms the girls live in
well, that may be just by choice, maybe they are not as hygenic as other girls
i've been in plenty of very nice bg rooms
it is only one room rooms, but they have been nicely fitted and clean

Agree with marc.. I used to always stay one month on my vacations in a BG room.. Wifey would arrange for other girls to share and we took over thier room.. Toilet wasnt even in the room but out and down the hall.. Only thing that annoyed me was no hot water to shave.. This was our vacations from me making huge money in Europe, driving round in flash motors, it wasnt a money thing.. It was how she wanted to spend her holiday..

Also while it may sound patronizing its not bad when viewed in how they have grown up.. When they have lived in a wooden shack.. slept 6 to a bed.. Only got an outside rain water bowl bathroom.. And then you have a room in Patong, cieling fan, fridge, on suite bathroom, tiled floor, etc etc etc.. Its not so bad..

Also quite honestly when I was young I lived in some rough places.. I spent times living in cars and vans, I had nowhere to live when I was 16 ish.. Even slept rough a bit.. I dont consider myself badly off, I had a home I could have gone back to (but too stubborn to do so).. But a BG room would not be worse than places I have lived at times..

Feel much more sorry for the Burmese who are living in the tin shacks next to construction sites and totally abused and ripped off by the Thais that employ them..

I rember this night at dragon. First the japanase guy was throwing ping pong balls like carzy and then kept on tiping 500 and 100 baht notes. If I am not wrong one ball is worth 20 baht (please correct me if I am wrong).
Still I managed to go out with one of the girls that night. She told me she does not like to go with the japanase guys. She only tries to get as mauch money as possible from them within Dragon.
If this is really true or not I do not know.
