There is an insidious predatory nature to this person's line of reasoning. It is meant to trap you into his/her line of thinking;to shame or guilt you into buying into the fear mentality. Stock buyers may love a downturn, as bargains are available to them, if they are able to act on them. If one lowers their rates in response to the current fear surrounding our economy, you may tap into folks who feel you are compassionate to them and their plight. But, I doubt that that goodwill feeling will last once the economy predictions change for the positive and you return your rates to what they were (or raise them from your current rate in response to a sharp upturn in predictions).
This is a lesson for all of us. Be good at what you do and charge what you are worth. Make no apologies for this.
