How would you help an MT learn to build a clientele?

Jason, this is an awsome topic.
One of the things that stick out for me is a phase that was told to me.
If you give them a 25.00 cup of coffee thell be back.
Let me explain, not an actual cup of coffee.
I too offer a cup of hot tea or a glass of water before the session. I have a glass of water set out for them after every session. I take a few minutes to chat and connect. I have found going that little bit extra makes them want more.
I have clients tell me
"I have gone to many therapist and it feels they are just there for the money. I can tell that you are there.
to help me".
What a compliment I think.
I was told in school, that clients can tell if you are there just for the money, I didn't understand the consept untill then.

That is a tremendous compliment! :mrgreen: It elevates you head and shoulders above most or all of the MTs that person has seen previously. Many clients respond more positively if you are perceived as caring about them. A few won't care as long as you have the skills to "get the job done" - whatever that means to them.

A new client recently said, "I think you were sent to me by God! I can tell you will be very good for me..." :shock: 8) Things like that make my week because they are (1) really good for the ego :altwink: , and (2) remind me of what a powerful experience a client's first session with an MT can be. We have opportunities to make lives better in various ways, and each session is another chance to improve on what we have done before. :massage:
