Idea for "sample massage." Opinions?

You might try providing seated massage at a charitable event --- complimentary or for a donation to the charity --- you get to meet interesting people, they get to meet you, energies are exchanged along with the business cards. Be sure to take your calendar/planner with you to catch those folks who say they'll book an appt........ do it then and they are more likely to make the appt. than when they get home....

When I was starting out a group of 3 of us who began practice at the same time gave complimentary massages [table and chair] for up to 10 mins to teachers at the local schools [neices, kids, etc. attending them] at the Relay for Life, Heart Walk, etc. We collected donations/tips and then gave that $$ to the event. THEN, you write a press release announcing that your group collected donations while doing massage at the XYZ Rally and donated all of those funds. Gets your name out, gives you "free" advertising, etc.

It's worth a try.

I love doing Relay for Life events! So much fun.

I've also had good success bringing in new clients by putting little information articles in the local newspapers. Many communities have small print newsletters or things and by approaching it from a client education angle instead of "sale! Buy! Spend Your Money!" angle you are more likely to attract new customers who would otherwise have overlooked an "ad".

I've written about backache during pregnancy, joint stiffness and range of motion, a recent study about massage being as effective for migraine relief as prescription medications, massage and fibromyalgia, etc.

Package deals are more successful for me than freebies or discounts. "Upgrade your Mother's Day gift certificate for free" type of thing. SOmeone buys a full body massage and I add a 'Peppermint Delight' foot massage and treatment.
