Tell her that the guy she talked with on Tuesday about the Jazz Festival wants her to know that there has been a change in the Festival schedule. Michel Legrand has cancelled his performance this Saturday evening and has been replaced by John Pizzarelli who she told me is one of her favourites. The concert is at the 4 Seasons Centre at 8pm Saturday, June 21. She will be very pleased and excited to hear about this and your session may be even better than usual as she says thank you in her own inimitable fashion.

I can't get there before Saturday and obviously will not get thanked for telling her about the concert after it has happened, so in an act of public spiritdness I am giving ANOther the chance to share in the benefit of her gratitude. I shall be along at some future date to see if she has any gratitude left over for me. The trouble is it is not easy for me to plan a visit ahead of time. Is that the Michel Legrad who composed the music for 'Summer of 42'?
The theme 'To love a queen' he composed for 'Three musketeers' from
the early 70's is quite memorable.

I can't imagine myself talking about musicians from that era with
people in their 20s. Maybe MPAs including the young ones are more
cultured after all. I do know some young chicks tend to have a soft
spot in romantic music of the 60's and 70's.
Next time when I have the chance to share my
interest I should not hesistate to talk about the music of Francis Lai.
I'll offer to make a cassette dub of the music of John Barry to
get better mileage.

It is Pizzarelli she particularly likes, not Michel Legrand. Ashley is a recent but very enthusiastic convert to jazz. She plays the piano herself, and has started 2 blogs on jazz, she told me. To my surprise she also said she loved the music of Carla Bley. Now, you have to be very well up in the jazz scene to know Carla's work. She is greatly admired by other jazz musicians. That impressed me. Actually, Jenaya at SRM is another jazz enthusiaist. She plays saxophone if I remember, correctly. OK this is not exactly on topic, but it may serve as a reminder not to assume that the girls who cater for us at MPs are air heads. They often have interesting and varied talents.

Let's call a halt to this ridciulous thread.

I have no interest in dating this or any other MPA. How anyone could conclude from my original post that I had any such intention is beyond me. I have seen Ashley once. I go to MPs about 3 times a year these days. I went more often before I retired. I am more than 40 years older than Ashley and happily married. I may never see her again, though I may if an opportunity arises. I thought that I had arrived at a harmless and even fun way to get some information to her that she asked me about. I made a mistake because many of you misinterpreted my intentions. Once that became clear I phoned Studio 9 and left her a message, as one of you said I should have done in the first place. I don't know if it reached her. I did not go to the concert I wanted her to know about. Pizzarelli is one of her favourites not mine. If I had gone I would have been there with my wife and another couple, who are visiting us from England, anyway.

When I saw Ashley it was a day when Italy were playing in the Euros, and it was very quiet at Studio 9, she thought for that reason. After the 45 minute session, she had no appointment following it and she stayed in the room for another 15 minutes asking me about the Festival and who was appearing and for any recommendations I might have. I asked her who she liked to get an idea which events might appeal to her. That was before the Legrand concert had to be cancelled because of emergency surgery so I did not know Pizzarelli, a favourite of hers, was on as his replacement. Hence my attempt to let her know before it was too late. Then as seems to happen on here very often the attacks began based apparently on so many people always being ready to believe the worst of others and assume their motives are discreditable. That may say more about them than about their "victim".

I hope this clears the air and we can all drop the subject and move on.
