Very good book for a reality dose.

Recently I was asked by a co-worker to send an email to his friend who may be going to Thailand for a first trip with info to help him out. Was a long email that I tried to keep short(impossible the info one should know going to LOS), but made sure I emailed a pdf of Private Dancer.

great posts guys. God way too many stories to tell, i couldn't write them all now from a net massageplanete even if its 1 bht a min. i'll write more when have time in UK.

but after reading the book and experiencing phuket i really think its a bad idea to get emotional or a relationship with a working thai girl...its all true read the book. getting off to a bad start straight away. the differneces in cultures just too great for a westrn style relationship. (i apoligise for this comment for those its worked out for, congrats). though its very ironic how in the book the whole way though it bangs on about how never marry a thai girl, it cant or never work, your marrying their family, loose house, money etc... BUT at the end they all (expect pete for obv reasons) get married even Joy !!!!!

for a green horn the whole thing is such a crazy experience. i had girl move into my hotel for the first month, she didn't want any money and she wouyldn't leave, though i always offered etc.. she wanted bf-gf exp. but the arguments, jellousy. moods etc... just something else. they love to be in control. ok sorry i shouldn't generalise. just my exp.

as i write this message i get call from another girl. i just asked her where she was last night, (was meant to be meeting her) she says she ill. which translates into she with someone else.

walking ATM machines, guys sending them 30g's every month from around the world. book all true.

a few of us guys out here out for 2-3 months. after getting past the green horn seforum.xxxe you really gotta draw the line at some points... such as you order one drink in a bar, and they expect a tip straight off. then a number of girls ask to buy them drink, then you do out of kindness and you dont see them again. now we no more lady drinks... dont wanna be cheap charlies or anything but when out long time you cant be mugged off.

anyway i don't wanna repeat whats been said a million times on here before, some of you seasoned warriors probably laughing ass off.

the only thing i will say what might have changed in the ten years from the book is that i feel alot of the younger gen 19-20 etc.. they all say they dont want/like thai men and want frang bf. they say it with such conviction that sounds true, tho i know how much bg can lie and i know alot do have babies too. But from the book most bg's prefered thai men ???


btw im 20 years old, not a 70 year old or anything. so like girls my own age.

But seriously, whilst I enjoyed the book, I thought it exaggerated the bad points in the relationship. I wonder how much was based on Leather's own experiences or those of his mates. Anyway, the exaggeration makes it required reading for 'newbies'. A good warning. I'm still a newbie, even though my first trip was in October 1983...
