Good idea, comrade...

The 3 to 4000 baht bracket are mainly family hotels, often not GF and so you'd have to ask to be sure.

IMO, your best bet is one of the hotels on the Beach Road between Karon Circle and the Hilton, like the Baan Karonburi or the Karon Princess.

Straight across the road to the beach, easy to walk to Karon, which with a tuk tuk minimum of 200 baht has to be a factor.

The Thavorn Palm always has a lot of Russians, but but it is nearer to Kata than Karon.

Threre are also some quite well positioned hotels on the Patong side of Karon Circle. Again they are family hotels, Best Western and the like, so you need to ask.

The Pacific is highly rated on Trip Advisor, the owner spends a lot of time making sure it ranks high, and is an OK hotel, but is not within comfortable walking distance of the beach or the bars.

The best hotel in Karon itself is the Centara Resort, which may or may not be GF, depending on who you ask. I've certainly seen plenty of girls go there from the bar soi and not have a problem, though I've never stayed there myself.

However it's a bit more expensive, though you may get an early deal.

The Sugar Palm, also right in Karon, requires girls to check in at the same time as you or a joiner is charged, in my experience.

there are some bars with BGs in them in Karon/Kata......but if you want a proper night out with plenty of choice head into Bangla Rd Patong

Have done a bit more research.

Your best bet may be

Phuket Guesthouse Phuket Hotel - Malai House Hotel in Karon Beach Phuket Thailand.

It's next to the Sugar Palm, but does not charge a joiner, and guests can use the Sugar Palm pool.

Close to the beach, close but not too close to the bars.

May be wise to double check about GF as policies can change.

About 3000 in Nov.

Both the Beach Road hotels I mentioned charge joiners, as do the family hotels, as does the Centara Resort.

has much improved since I stayed there.

Great location, about 3500, don't know if there is a joiner.

I am not a fan of my compatriots when it comes to choosing a hotel to stay in though.

we stayed in karon a couple of years ago and at the time we thought we would never go back to phuket.
We did return last year stayed in patong and loved it so we are going back this year. even being a couple in our 40s we considered karon to be to quite

most of the bars are still open, most of the girls that work there are still around aswell. Biggest difference now is that there are very few customers in the bars. Great if you wanna chat with a girl, not so great if you traveling alone looking for some farangs to chat with for an hour or two. The bars close to Kata center busier than the ones in Karon center.

Hi NM,
I was there in June last year and will be in Kata/Karron same time as you this year (16may,27thmay) IMO there's enough Bars in those Towns to keep you busy.
Just have a good look in the Soi's back from the main beach rd in Karron and you will find Bars with BG's and on the main st ,Kata rd Kata the is a bunch of Bars heading south past the main Kata shops. You will know when your there the Girls will be calling out to you 55

I've been there in July, it's not a ghost town, the bars will be open, there will be girls, you will have your pick.

Not as lively as Patong but not as crazy either.

Careful on Karon beach, though, as the rip currents are pretty bad at that time of the year.

also are all the Bars your talking about in Karon/kata within walking distance from Karon center ? --by the way I staid in patong my last visit to Phuket ---- just thought it would be nice to stay where its a

little more quite and the beaches are better this time.

Better to start off in Karon and maybe up the pace to Patong if you see fit. Coming from SG you wont be used to such a vibrant nightlife so you may be out of your depth in Patong....

well --still tossing around the idea of staying in patong --I have not confirmed a room anywhere yet. like the beaches in Karon---but of course love the nightlife in Patong ! also like the Summer breeze Hotel --great people there .
