Local Motion
Phuket Hotel Phuket Inn and Bar and Restaurant in Karon beach Thailand. is another.

But you have to be careful in Karon because many of the guest houses are on the same soi as all the bars, and are pretty noisy.

The two above are at the far end of the soi and so not so bad, Local Motion in particular.

No joiner at Welcome Inn, don't know about the other one.

What is the primary difference between a hotel and a guest house?

Facilities.

Guest house won't have a pool, you can reckon that a pool will double the price, cheapest place with pool is 3000, guest house half that.

Bedrooms not necessarily smaller, won't be luxurious but perfectly OK.

Reception times will be more limited; they won't have tour desks and the like. The lack of tour desks and in house massage is a good thing IMO because you pay much more for these in the hotel than elsewhere.

But the big problem with Karon guest houses are that they are almost all on the main bar soi, and noisy.

If they say they are not, don't believe them. I've stayed in many of them and they are all noisy until around 2am when the bars close.

Local Motion versus Golden Sand, I'd make it, as Local Motion further away from bars and less noisy.

Welcome is good but probably worth spending a bit more.

I'd forgotten about this one, another worth looking at.

It's round the back of the soi, so reasonably quiet.

Good Tripadvisor reports, never stayed there myself.

karon is well know for that, you wont find any or less beauty , this is a true fact, ugly and older woamn are there, but some of then are very friendly, and the place even in high season, is less busy tha other entertaiment area like patong , for sure, i will put that place for expat, who are well know in patong and make there move difficult , and prefer hide theirself

There are some bars off the Beach Road, about 150 metres north of Karon Stadium, never seen mentioned, never seem all that busy, but been there for a while, so some must manage to do a bit of trade. They have names like Boom, and Cannot......

One criteria in multi-story places is often whether there is a lift/elevator.
This also cuts down on the clippity-clop of the ST girls' high heels on tiled stairs.

However I'm sure one sponsor would disagree 555!

Sorry for the little off topic question, what are the best GF hotels in Karon/Kata you can recomend, please.
I am planning my vacation and Karon/Kata seems like a nice place to stay: better beach than Patong, still not far from the main nighttime attractions.
