Dont get me wrong, its a great buisness idea, and they are probably making lots of money, but as a therapist you can do better!

I am not following what this comment means in context with your paragraph above.

I think rmt4u is following the line of thought that the pre-cut strips are "designed for those who don't know what they're doing" and to have them around to sell to your clients & teach them how to do it, but actually using them as a therapist makes YOU seem like you don't know what you're doing. I can understand this thinking, but I also see how it might be useful if you're in more of a fast-paced environment (sporting event maybe) where it would save you time to use the pre-cut pieces and wouldn't have to bother messing with a roll.

I could be totally off-base though.. I actually know next to nothing about Kinesio Taping

I meant that you can give better care, with less cost to your patient by taking the full kinesio tape course for that initial investment of around $400 for the course.

So I was a little wrong.. you mean using the pre-cut tape (which I looked up and found to have instructions included) with no formal education vs. taking the course and not NEEDING the instructions whether you use the pre-cut tape or not. Is there any danger of hurting someone or causing damage if done incorrectly? If so, then I definitely agree with you.

*Edit: reading through all the posts again, this point was made and I agree- I think the pre-cut strips might be a great idea to try on yourself or a willing guinea pig (not on regular clients) to see if the course is something you're interested in because there was some concern about spending the money then not ever using it.

If you misapply the tape, it may be far less effective, or possibly do nothing useful at all. There is a possibility that misapplied tape could somewhat inhibit function rather than enhance it, which may or may not contribute to more significant issues. In any case, trying to use the (expensive) precut tape incorrectly might turn out to just be an expensive experiment that fails to work and therefore makes the (unskilled) user think the method doesn't work.

To me, the value of the precut tape is for skilled users (or clients who have worked with skilled users) to apply complex and/or large tape patterns very quickly, possibly saving a lot of time and hassle. A skilled user could teach clients how to apply specific tape patterns for their needs, and supply them with the precuts for use between office visits. This provides an additional revenue source for the practitioner AND a value-added service to the client.
