I had a rare opportunity to be in DC in the evening on Saturday night. After my dinner engagement, I decided to drop in to see Paula, fully expecting to be told that she would have to ask me to wait for quite a while. But, I made the trip anyway and knocked on the door to her basement apartment. Her little parking lot was full, so I was expecting the worst. But, she said that I would have to wait only 20 minutes! Cool.
Right at the appointed time, Didi walked in. She probably had the prettiest face of any technician who has ever cracked my bones. She had man-made Cs and what I would call an athletic body. Not much in the way of curves, just trim and pleasant. She said she had moved from SF via NYC and that this was her third day working here. She had seen the White House and a couple of the other monuments already. Her English was good enough to carry on a better-than-average conversation.
All the usual things were had in exchange for the usual gifts. I was a little tired, so I thing I will try to get over there in the day later this week. Interestingly, as I was getting ready to leave, Paula's neighbor who lives upstairs was coming home. I didn't actually see him, but he and Paula exchanged pleasantries. Then, because of the late hour, Paula asked me where I was parked. I said "out in the street close by" and started to walk to my car. Amazingly, she walked out with me to make sure I got there OK. This was pretty daring for a petite Asian woman by herself in DC. Maybe she packs heat?
