More advice for Jersey boy

Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a fish restaurant where they will not rip you off, I was in a place last year down the bottom of beach road (bangla end) I paid approx £70 for couple of Prawn main courses and drinks all the chefs were cooking away at the front and the prices were on display but me thinks I was ripped and I'm no cheap Charlie..lol

the restaurants at the back of Tiger are generally pretty good for seafood.....I like no 1 and further back Chang Rai

up on nanai outside the Mae Ubol markets there are several restaurants serving great seafood....I recently had a whole fish at the one at the front RHS for about 350 baht and it was a decent size and delicious (cooked in lime ginger and garlic)

Yes, top end of Bangla. Looking at Tiger, there is a narrow Soi to the right. At the end you will find Chang Rai restaurant on the left side.

There have been a number of threads mentioning the outdoor restaurants behind Tiger. Great value....I prefer #5, but they are all good, IMO.

Big Tiger prawns run expensive at the beachfront places. Great food behind Tiger as stated and also opposite Soi Paradise across the road.

After eating prawns in Oz the 3 or 4 times i have tried the local stuff mostly Pattaya and Patong not so good from the high end to street vendor a little mushy and a slightly dirty flavour i thought they must be farmed.

Ahh, Thai food...

The first pic is from a place on the beach, not sure which one (from Bangla head towards the beach, turn right, down the road a bit, turn left on a street and it was on the beach) but it was nice to sit on the beach, feet in the sand, under a group of umbrellas, food was so good I went back the next day! ahh, the memories... but I digress.

The next picture was from one of the many seafood places on the other side of Bangla, near the #1 restaurant but again, not sure which one.

Neither of these places were expensive and the food was absolutely fantastic!

As stated head to Chang Rai rest. or any of the others around there. Tablecloths aren't always claen like at the Savoy but at a 1/3 of the price we don't complain. Service is quick at Chang Rai and staff are generally friendly but they get busy so have to almost stand up to get attention at times.

I think that place is called Sabai Sabai on the beach...great spot

Photonut is certainly speaking about the restaurants around Sabaii Beach Restaurant, there is also a good cluster in a recently renovated bunker like structure called Loma Park on the right ( rather than the left for SB) of that beach Soi....they are small and cheap and if they dont have the particular fish you want, they just buy it off their neighbours.
Always fresh and inexpensive there....
