Raw I think you fail to see the point of this. It has nothing to do with how much I earn, how much farangs earn, but how you get ripped off, just because you are a farang. Like I said, lived here for 10 months, and never once been in a bar that has charged me for a glass of soda. Soda costs what... 4baht? 6 baht in tescos, 8 baht in 7/11 10baht in a family run corner shop. I dont care if the bottle was 60 baht or not, the point being, is that no where I have been has ever charged for a glass. When you ask for a beer, its not poured into a glass, and then half of it is left under the counter is it? No you get the bottle.

But like I said, I think you have missed the point of the thread. As for printing it out, as a favour for me, thats upto you. I don't see it as a favour, but maybe next time I walk past his bar, I will tell him face to face, when hes not drunk of course. But then again, what bar owners in Thailand are ever sobre?

I tried to post this a day or so ago but my net has been down..

You do realize that many of the larger bars (scruffys etc perhaps the MR ??) have a soda machine.. The machine spits out soda water / sprite / cokes etc for mixers..

If a place has a machine how are they supposed to keep you happy ?? Perhaps the bottle system was not in place or they had no bottles or they were not refrigerated or one of any things. .

I fail to believe in the months you have been here this is the first time you have got a glass... I would think I get a glass a high % of the times I ask for a minouw and soda.. Also comparing it to a beer (which is drunk from the bottle) isnt the only comparison.. When you ask for an orange juice you get the bottle ?? Any fruit juice ?? No they put it into a glass..

I've started a few nights recently on soda/lime and I mostly get a bottle, but in a few places I've been given a glass - not sure I even batted an eyelid, certainly not when the bill came...

but maybe if I was living off 12k a month (no chance) I would be more fussy about getting an extra 30ml of soda.

Next time ask for a bottle of soda and see what happens

Again talbot, you have failed to see the point.... maybe you can't just grasp the knowledge of what I and others are saying. Anyway - as for the glass from Livin Los, you get a glass, yes, and you also get given the bottle, or its kept behind the bar, in alot of cases.

The comment on the orange, is that its served from a carton and not a bottle. If you ordered an Orangina for example, would you expect 1/3 of it in a glass and the rest kept behind the counter? Some places sell diet coke in cans, so if you asked for a Diet coke, would you just get a glass full or would you get the can? My point being is that there is no reason not to give the bottle, rather than a 200ml with 150ml of ice and 50ml of soda in it. When you order drinks such as JD and Coke - you order by the glass, you order beer by the glass or bottle. You order water normally by the bottle. The same with soda - unless it comes out of one of the gun machines.

No matter how much you try to explain what you mean, there will always be members pointing out that 40 baht is not worth mentioning or this or that... :ytounge: Some other members my agree with you but probably won't bother posting, I don't really know how this bar you went to advertise about the beverage they serve but I think most prople would be upset if the bar advertise that a bottle of water cost 40 baht and when you order bottle you get a sip but have to pay for the price of a bottle :ytounge: Since it'll be more or less a matter of principle rather than money... What most people probably react to is that you started a thread about this 555555 That's on the other side something most members wouldn't do I think...

I havent missed your point.. I fully get what you are saying.. But in my experience I get a glass of sada and no bottle about 30+ % of the time.. You have bveen here 10 months and this is the first time its happened to you ??? Its not even very unusual thats why I find it odd..

Also as to the juice most bars I know get thier juice from 'the juice guy' who delivers to all tha bars (cant remember his name but he has the best damn juice) and it comes in a bottle.. A big one to be sure but a bottle none the less..

I can see where you are coming from Electr0, but if you feel that badly about it, shouldn't you have raised the issue with the bar at the time, rather than post on here.

One thing I notice when eating and drinking in LOS is the lack of consistancy in service/price/produce. I don't think that anyone is actually out to rip me off, it's just a lack of customer care and common sense on their part. If I feel badly done to, then I just don't return there.

As you live in Phuket, you must have grasped by now the fact that Consumer Rights Laws in LOS are somewhat different to those in the West.

He says he remembers you. as your the one that spend 2 hours with two of his girls sitting with you and ended with a bill of 40 bath.

Take no offence from me, as I mean no rudness or harm I speak my mind tell what I hear.
The problem is there is no right and wrong about serving soda in a bottle or glass all places serve them differently (been to some nice hotels & Pubs been served soda in a glass just nicer ones with a lime too). the only way is ask next time before ordering do they or will they serve you a bottle instead of a glass. If not find another that will accomadate your needs.

seriously speaking. The budget you have is very tight, I for sure couldnt live half a month on that .And I'm not a spendtriff guy. My thai wife's makes 15000 baht a month for her own personal spending money and she still ask me for more (but whats new as all wives/ g.f here do )
Only a personal opinion: you need to find a way to increase your monthy budget as patong is not a cheap place to live. It's a fantacy for some farang to live here but in reality no money no hunny and party.
if you got a gift of the gap or some cool internet skills.I know some people looking for that.( open to all ).

I suspect that got more to do with it than the OP indicates or perhaps realizes.. I understand being on a budget but if your having to watch your baht so tightly I doubt any bar is going to be making enough out of you to justify you being in there and taking up a seat.. Hence they are not going to bend over backwards to have you back..

6k per month is about one big night out for a drinker and girlfriend who drinks.. having to watch finances so much doesnt leave much for lady drinks, tips, etc.. Those are what the staff reap as rewards and creates thier incentive to be top service..

I stay sometimes at Moulin Rouge bar. My feeling is that the boss is a very nice guy and staff is very friendly. I never was pushed to give some drinks etc.. I recommend the special German Franziskaner Bee.
I also would be upset if a customer is sitting two hours with two girl and spend only 40 Baht. I hope he give some tip for the lady. In future it would be better for him to stay in his room and drink water in his room.

2 hours on 1 soda? I think someone is exagerating there. if it took me 2 hours to drink a 50ml glass of soda, i think i would probably die from lack of water.

As for drinks for the bar girls, I play games, they win I buy them drinks. As for 2 girls... i know 3 girls there, but its impossible to play connect 4 with 2 girls.
