I think they would rather give out Wechat than phone number. And it's also better for us. With Wechat, we can easily block someone off.

That sword has 2 edges they can control who has access to them as well . Wechat is easier for them as translation is baked in as well

I always use burners. If I use WeChat, I have to use my real number, no?

Just a phone number and have the texts message option. They will text you with a verification code

I don't think everyone can see your phone number, they only see it if they add you using the phone number you used when signing up. But if you add people through WeChat ID or qr code scans, they won't see it.
You can also hide your phone number from being searchable too

Not sure but you can try. Worse come to worse, you can't create the account

I prefer anonymity of burner #s.

WeChat feels potentially revealing.
