MPC 1000 HELP! newbie help?

So i just but an MPC 1000 off eBay, and i started to mess with it just last night and recorded two separate tracks and playing it back together. Track one has hats and track two has kicks, when listening to them separately(muting the other track) they sound perfect, but when i play them both together, some parts of each track is fuzzy/blank.

I'm listening to it on playback through my headphones (sony mdr studio monitors) that are directly hooked up to the mpc.

hopefully this is an issue with how im recording and i didn't get scammed with a faulty system.
