Hey Guys,

Does anyone know where old farts like me: can enjoy and dance to some 80's to current day music in niteclubs etc in LOS.

Notice quite alot of R n B and Hip Hop playing but not the good ol stuff from years gone by. Nothin like some good gunners or acdc to head bang too :

Check out the Blues Factory in Pattaya. It is well worth a visit.

Lam Morrison comes on at about midnight and plays some of the best rock and blues guitar that you will ever hear......

Drew - I know exactly what you mean. Just a few short 5-6 years ago the music across the board was pretty good but nowadays there is so much rap and hip hop crap I can be quite happy when I find a place with good music. When I find a place with good music I'll definitely stay longer (and spend more). I like the Blues Factory mentioned above as well.

At the risk of being accused of self promotion, the soon to be renamed Club 53, under Rock Hard on Bangla, only plays proper tunes from the last 40 years, including old school R'n'B (Rappers Delight anybody?) as well as disco, British Invasion, Motown, funk, 80's and 90's all night long.

Cheers drew, looking at the average age of the Patong visitor, one can confidently predict that they are similar to my age +/- 10 years (I am 45 and half) therefore, their musical tastes will be more like mine than say, my staff's musical tastes who are all about 24.
My staff really hate the music I play, I see this a good sign, always. My customers love it.
New Years Eve we are going totally going for the Cheese factor too so YMCA away.
Soi Easy tried quite hard for a few months to play some decent tunes, but getting one of their mates to copy the hard drive in my place and then press the random button didn't cut the mustard, although I did piss myself one night when a Tom Waites track came on. (I love the guy but would never play him to a bar full of unsuspecting punters).
Soi Eric has the best tunes in any Soi at the moment.
All the tunes in our place are carefully selected to get the '**** me I haven't heard this since..' buds tingling and I love it when fellow music lovers come in and suggest a tune or two, so please call in when you are in town. Last week we had Billy Bragg, followed by The Undertones then The Buzzcocks and then the Rude Boys came in and it all went a bit Ska, TOP! Shaba.

Soi Eric is now playing nearly all retro original songs. I'v just helped install an computer based system and now give the thai Djs playlists periodically thru the night. Some old RnB but just enough to keep the girls dancing. Genuine rock from Elvis to the Stones to the Ramones, Blondie , Stray Cats , Doors Etc...and a mixture of dance but proper stuff, not the cheesy house remixes played elsewhere, its still a work in progress but I think we'r getting there.
