New night club in Patong

Thanks for the responses. This is good to know, not that I'm ready to start a biz there, but I did see an opportunity for a nightclub, likely run by a farang, with good DJ connections, with a bit more emphasis on the quality of music than say Tiger or Tai Pan (never made it to Safari, same-same music, right?). Good luck to the OP!

Couldn't the Shark Club owner have avoided the problems with payoffs to the right folks? Or is it the illusive face issue yet again?

It was a pic of some kind of silly games they play. Those games (and even worse ones) are played in every Club Med allover the world after lunch. Never closed a club med.
Now the buiding where Shark was, bagla boxing, is owned by the owner of Tiger. Tiger disco just opened when the Shark had to close. Speaking of coincidence

Shark Club boss kicked out of Thailand


PATONG: Kevin Radke, manager-shareholder of Patong’s Shark Club, was expelled from Thailand on Friday and was told he will not be allowed back into the country, after authorities decided his activities on the island were in conflict with Thai morals.

Pol Col Apirak Hongtong, Superintendent of Phuket Immigration Police, told the Gazette that the police cancelled Mr Radke’s visa on Friday.

Governor CEO Pongpayome Vasaputi ordered the Shark Club closed on January 30 after it was discovered that the operating license for the disco – which can hold more than 1,500 revelers – contained irregularities and had, in any case, expired. Gov Pongpayome said that it would not be renewed.

The check on the license followed the publication in Thai newspapers of photographs showing girls dancing topless in the club, and a game in which male customers knelt with their hands behind their backs, eating ice cream out of cups gripped between girls’ thighs.

Mr Radke could not be reached today, and on Saturday, Governor CEO Pongpayome Vasaputi declined to comment about Mr Radke’s expulsion.

However, when asked why the Shark had been closed while other entertainment venues featuring nude shows, and places such as massage parlors, remained untouched, he said, “We have the power to close such places whenever we wish. But we want to tackle the problem step by step.”

Was nearly 4 years ago - but little has changed (alas).

Yup, we're not very full these days since our sign hasn't even been finished yet.... Getting good feedback from people about the music and place. I've been doing some publicity that will come out soon, so hopefully we'll be live and kicking within a months time. Got some dj's flying in also, not sure it will help since most people just foloow the bar girls to clubs LOL.

Really do hope that the venture is successful, as SeaDragon does need a good shot in arm, although it has always been a problem to get folks to walk all the way to the end of the soi.

whilst sure he isn't earning the big money and must have 'permission' off someone am sure the farang guy with an amp singing thai songs outside ocean on bangla won't be there too long when a thai objects - not sure if they had bothered to include that in reserved professions (who would have thought it) but thin end of the wedge next you will have 'blind' farangs touring the streets singing for 20baht to go away
