I think a real microbrewery could be a good money maker in Patong. They certainly do well here in the States. There is two in my neck of the woods: 1)Marin Microbrewery in Larkspur, and 2) Iron Srprings Microbrewery in Fairfax. They both do a very good business, and their beer is excellent. :great:

Received a very bad review from a local who went there last weekend. She said everything is expensive. She did say she will go back after a few months, give them time to settle. Any board members been there yet?

Attended the Carabao concert on opening night. Excellent facility -- good prices on food. Free appetizers on the tables when we arrived (but that was probably just for the grand opening -- along with the goody bags with free mug and polo shirt). They have three microbrewed beers available in about seven different sizes ranging from .30 liter at 95 baht on up to a huge tower for 1,250 baht. Large room downstairs; didn't go up to the balcony. Nice (but smallish) restrooms. Okay service for opening night if a bit slow later in the evening. They also severely UNDER-charged us (didn't realize until after I got home that we should have paid at least double what the bill showed). I was very impressed all-around (the Pearl Dunken beer -- a dark wheat -- was my favorite). Also had shuttle buses running from the parking lot to the entrance and there were plenty of tuk-tuk's on hand after the show (which ended around 1:30). Oh, and Carabao (plus the other acts) were very good as well... I'll definitely return.

A friend stopped there one afternoon. He said the beer was 95 baht for a "smallish" mug. He wasn't impressed with the beer, but he said it "wasn't bad". He felt it was a bit touristy, and the prices were as well.

BM Spector was also there for the Carabao concert, he paid 800 baht for his ticket and said it was like 95% Thais and 5% farangs. But I agree 95 baht for a small mug must be very expensive to Thais, who usually get a big bottle at other entertainment venues for the same price.

It was expensive....our bar bill was like 7800 baht for 5 people. That was 4-3litre towers and a bottle of black label and mixers. Great concert though...guite a venue and yes only well healed Thai's in attendance.
