I usually get my China visas through a business travel agency - also, currently only single visas.
Ready for the Olympics !
Probably they'll close all Bars and Places, too, for the overall image.
I guess there's not much reason to be in China during the Olympics
(except for the Sports ?! ....

Fucking pricks, what do they think they're doing?!

I got mine last October and it's a multiple, but the fees had already gone up to $100 then, now they jack it up 30% starting this year?! At least the fees are all the same no matter how many entries so you might as well get a multiple.

It doesn't affect me now, but is still annoying that they did this. No other country's fees were adjusted.

Yes, they raised the price for Americans to $130 and did away for single and double entry visas. One visa available to Americans at a price of $130.

When I went to Shenzhen several years ago I would get my visa at the border for 100HK$. When they quite giving it out I get the visa from CTS at the train station for 400HK$ which takes 4 days to get and if you wanted it faster it would cost 600HK$. Now I get my visa from the Chinese consulate in San Francisco. A 1 year multi entry visa cost 100US$ last year. If you paid 130US$ then they must have raised the price this year

Last month I got a one entry visa for my gf at CTS by the TST station. Paid 450 HK$ for a next day visa. Damn expensive. For myself I got a multiple entry from the Consulate in Los Angeles, price $130. However, I have made good use of the visa since I got it.

I don't care as I was already in HK and the train is HK$33 one way, just too annoyed that it has changed so suddenly and the officers are so strict here.

it said that china has changed visa policy and travel agents were reporting slower processing times and longer periods of waiting.
It said that it was for about the residents of about 30 countries including Philippines and Vietnam. Sounds like they're messing around and acting open but are really having a tough time doing it....
Do your research before you go down there and waste lots of time and money!


I'm checking it out now... I've heard from chinese people that you won't usually have problems through the government sanctioned travel agent named CTS or China Travel Service.

when i was researching it a few months ago, one of the sites said that you can get a visa at the border, but there are certain countries that the chinese government do not allow. i know that americans cannot get a shenzhen visa at the border anymore.

That's strange if it's 2 or 3 years ago, I bought the newest edition of LP HongKong and in that book it says you can get a visa at border, anyway I will enjoy myself in HK instead.

They used to issue visa at the Lo Wu border for $100HKD and you can stay for 5 days. They have not done this for maybe 2 or 3 years now so I don't know how this fillipna woman got the visa there unless she is a HK resident.

I took the KCR to Lo Wu this morning but when I asked for visa they said the chinese gov. changed policy and now you need to apply beforehand for a proper chinese visa, got back to HK and since it's labour day tomorrow I wouldn't get a visa until friday so my plan of going mongering in Shenzhen became no more than a plan,

It sounds very strange this new policy because I met a filipina woman the other day who had just been there and got her visa at the Lo Wu border.

Did they fool me or did I go to the wrong place?
