NORMAL — The Normal Police Department and Illinois State Police have recovered a person believed to be the victim of human trafficking, the agencies announced Friday.
On April 23, Normal police received a call for service from a local massage spa. Officers met with a person reported they were a human trafficking victim, according to a news release from ISP.
Normal police notified state police, and the ISP Criminal Investigation Task Force 6, which leads a human trafficking investigation, responded to the scene to assist. The two agencies executed a search warrant at the business, according to the news release.
Afterward, ISP assisted the victim with getting services to help with their recovery.
ISP noted, during human trafficking operations, the agency often works with local partners to provide essential services to victims, including medical, mental and substance abuse treatment, food, clothing, short-term housing and financial aid, as well as finding legal assistance.

"There is no one size fits all option when it comes to assisting people who have been trafficked, and significant time and resources are dedicated to developing the best plan for each person," according to a statement from ISP.
Along with ISP and NPD, the Bloomington Police Department has also increased efforts to "crack down" on businesses involved with illicit activities, including human trafficking, ISP said.
"These multi-jurisdictional efforts are aimed at stopping human trafficking in McLean County," the release said.
