On-site Massage Chair?

Was wondering if anyone could recommend an on-site massage chair, that's preferably wood frame and reasonably priced?

Had no idea in which specific forum to ask, so thought general discussions was the way to go.

Can I ask why you want a wooden one? All the one's I've seen are metal.

I had a wooden framed one years ago, and never again (though don't even know if you can get them now). It was FAR too heavy, and given the whole purpose of them is to be portable, it was laughable. I could barely lift the thing, lol. It LOOKED lovely, but wasn't fit for purpose, imo. Got a light weight aluminium one next, and it may not have looked so nice, but at least I could get it out of the car!

i would also question why you want a wooden one.

the most expensive one you can buy in the country is a wooden one by oakworks. I believe it is about £550ish


but think of it this way, in the medium to long term, wood is not as strong a substance as aluminium and the frame connecting with the nuts/bolts can move by a mm or so whereas aluminium cannot move.


i can recommend the affinity puma chair. you can find it widely and is around £260.

would still love to hear why you want a wooden chair.........

Great stuff everyone! And glad to cause a stir with my wooden ideas ;-)

I desired a wooden one, as everything else I have is wooden or natural. So for continuity as well as it's what I'd prefer in my values. I have seen wooden ones in the past at trade shows, but didn't want one at the time.

I don't like aluminium, but I see it's user friendliness. And I haven't found any I've liked so far. But there may be one that someone recommends above all else....

Can't remember who I got it from, but I bought a wooden one, quite cheaply, through eBay. Not sure it would stand up to heavy use, but seems OK for the occasional massage. And not heavy.

Thanks Nick, I'll take a look on ebay - though I do loath trawling, it's like an internet jumble sale! Haha

I only need to use it once, max twice a month, so not heavy going.

Any chance you had the name of the brand of chair?

Defiantely get an aluminium one. The woodens look smart but you will end up transporting it to shows and events at some point. My chair is under 7Kg. This isn't much but when when you consider the bulk it is a pain to carry any distance and I consider myself quite fit and strong.
I would go to a massage show or store and try some out. It really is worth spending some decent money on it as it makes a massive difference to the client.

onsite chairs:
Three things that are inter-related Price, Adjustment, Weight

at higher prices you will get a highly adjustable chair that is lighweight e.g. Oakworks Portal Pro, Stronglite - both excellent

Middle range (around £250) you will get good adjustment and lightweight e.g. Affinity Puma

Lower Range (£150 or less) you will get poor adjustment or heavy weight or both

Hope this helps, I would contact a couple of specialist Onsite schools and ask them what they recommend. Typically they are therapists and will often make sensible suggestions!
