Hi Candie,
I do know what you mean. If you don't make a publicity splash, using marketing , then you won't get anywhere, you won't reach the people who you want to reach, and at the end of the day it's happy women becoming mum's that really counts. Women's Own is read by a lot of women, and woman's mags want the celebrity stories and a dramatic storyline. I might not agree 100% with the image that Sue projects, but I respect her decision to do it this way.
I'll give you another example. My fella sells mobility scooters and he wrote an article for a magasine which is called ***********. It was written to ensure that people become aware of the ways some companies work, and prevent people from being ripped off. We since put this article on our webpage, and the spin-off in terms of trust built, and business success, has been vast. My boyfriend has effectively become Saint Steve the mobility scooter repair guy for the whole of England, and he is a good guy, but he's made good money too as a result. Sometimes the end justifies the means., although in this case, we never meant for this article to build the business. It was written simply to help people to repair their own scooters, and stop themselves from being ripped off.
I think Sue's success is due to many factors, diet advise, supplements, relaxation, reflexology, fertility awareness. There's nothing miraculous going on, but she wants to reach cleints and she wants to earn a living too, so in order to do that, she has chosen to market herself in this way. If she did play on the desperation of women who want to become Mums, taking their money and giving them nothing, then that would be a a disgrace, but her success rate is high, and sometimes what people need most is a bit of hope, and adding that image and the publicity gives them that faith. The mind is a powerful tool, and I believe all this must have evolved for a reason. I think it's part of Sue's destiny to help many more women, and these tools and the marketing are enabling her to do that. Getting into Women's Own without the element of magic and mystery simply would not happen.

Sorry if I don't get more involved with discussions. It's a busy life that I lead nowadays, but that's another Story, involving skydives, former pop-stars, Scootermen, Romance, and the reclaiming of my life: http://www.lifeafterms.com but my Story is not dramatic enough for Woman's Own! LOL!
