I wouldn't buy insurance that pays little and costs alot.
But I pay $110 per month for an insurance policy that covers me for $800,000 of value.

A vaccine that is 65% effective, with side effects, against a virus that my body can fight off at better than 99%, for free, isn't a good comparison to insurance.

Not all hospitals are being overwhelmed. Mainly hospitals in the larger urban centres like Toronto or Peel. Hospitals in the rural areas are not having the same problem. Another problem with the hospitals at the moment is staff calling in sick. As that happens the workers who are working are asked to work doubles and it has been happening so much that they are starting to burn out.

Another problem with the number of people in hospitals at the moment is the number of people in the hospital waiting on a bed in a long term care facility. A lot of the long term care facilities stopped taking any new people in as they have had their own problems with outbreaks. Now the government has come and said the facilities will have to take at least 500 new people over the next couple of months to help open up the bed spaces in the hospital.

A friend of mine was one of those working 16 hr days, now only 12 hours. She said the hospitals are not overrun, but they are still working long hours. They are playing the pandemic game and shipping people north to scare the masses. She has taken her first shot but is uncomfortable with the second one now.

This needs to be put through the proper channels and come up with something that works for all. Closing everything down for 2% is not a good plan.

Vaccine costs zero, much less than $110 a month, and covers something much more valuable than an $800K home: your life. Much better deal in my opinion.

If there's a ~1% chance your body won't fight it off, your death from covid is probably way more likely than the odds your house will burn down, and yet we still insure our houses...

Vaccine efficacy against death is significantly higher than 65% and side effects are negligible for virtually everyone amongst the almost one billion who have been covid vaccinated thus far...

Even if they're not having serious capacity problems in rural Ontario, if they're having serious problems in Toronto or Peel or wherever that still creates a problem for all of us if everything is shut down everywhere and no one can do anything!

Does anyone feel that if we did absolutely nothing at all and everyone avoided supposedly evil deadly vaccinations that things would be significantly better in the GTA with regards to the issues that are currently problematic like case numbers, hospitalizations, ICU capacities, medical staff burnout, etc?

Is opening everything, no masks, no restrictions, no rules, no vaccinations the way out of this mess? Everyone has lots to say about the problem... what is the solution?

I drove by Suko McDonalds plaza last night around 9 pm and the parking lot was packed. It seems to me like nobody really cares about Stay at Home order any more.

Darwinism or a modified nouvel version of it will ultimately have the final say. The majority of the world is not vaccinated, children so far are exempt, and variations are occurring as we speak. Even with the current vaccines it is not clear how long that they will offer protection to those who have received then.
We are still early in this pandemic with Indian seeing ~200 000 new cases per day, although they have vaccinated 100 million and Brazil continuing to produce recipes for disasters. Already Israeli researchers have found that the Pfizer vaccine is dangerously subpar in efficacy against the S. African variant. Canada continues to let people fly into Vancouver International and circumvent the quarantine with no contact tracing resulting in the Brazilian variant being the highest in Canada outside of Brazil.

Well...I don't really care what some guys think about vaccine. I am getting one next week. The case count today is 4736 and it is going to get worse. Peel jumped 400 cases and are now almost 1,000. Durham is a little over 200. Sad day when you can say Oshawa is a much nicer place to be than Brampton.

Instead of curfews they should start looking at public transportation. I know many people need it to get around, but I have been seeing buses with people packed in like sardines. But hey, they all have masks on. They should look at reducing the numbers on a bus at one time and increase the number of buses on a route to compensate for the reduced volume per bus.
