Payment discrepancy- help!
One lady that I talked to said "go ahead and deposit it you need to be paid for your services". She sounded a little sarcastic on the phone and I thought what the heck she said to deposit it. So I tried and it (the check) was too old. From her tone over the first conversation I just decided to write it off. She has been back to my shop, but nothing has come of it. The check was for $75.00.
As for the other 2 checks I had, I left messages for these people and they never called me back. I know I should have called them back, but as a business owner I decided to let it go and take it as a lesson learned. I've massaged for a long time and owned a massage and day spa for the past 4 plus years. Sometimes it's just best to let things go.
This valentine's day I had a man come in an treat him and five of his friends to massages. He wrote me a hot check. Long story as to why I took it. He's actually been in the shop before and never had a problem with him. When I found out the check he wrote (total about $600.00) I was pissed and wanted my money.I went to the city office downtown that handles hot checks I was informed that this man was wanted. I googled him and he actually has conned several people and had even pulled a gun out on them. The lady at the hot check place told me that I would have to file against him in order to prosecute him. She said that since me and the other girls in the shop could identify him, we would be great when he is brought to court. When she said that I sail "He_ _ NO! I'm not going to file charges against this conman. It's not worth risking me or the girls that work for me. I don't want to worry about pissing this thug off and wondering if he's outside my shop waiting for me. Call me stupid or whatever, I've just learned that for what ever reason sometimes somethings are just better off left alone.
Pete said:I have no idea why you decided NOT to call those clients back and ask for a new check. They were already aware that the checks were outstanding - since they had no problem with you attempting to deposit them at that point, they should also been ok with either replacing the check or at the very least editing the date so that you could deposit the original checks. Why on Earth would you choose to NOT get paid just because of a simple error on your part?
