Precision Reflexology

Hi All

I had a massive spend up at the weekend on books and in the last 2 hours have just taught myself Precision Reflexology. The book was fantastic and is called A Guide to Precision Reflexology by Jan Williamson (quite pricy at £22.50 and only 83 pages - but definitely worth it). It is very well written and I feel more confident to practise linking on clients after teaching myself than I did from a one day course that I attended last year.

This is as good a place as any Sara! Thank you for sharing. Would you recommend this book for a fairly newly qualified reflexologist ie me? I have heard good things of this book before.

This is a really good book for a newly qualified person too, there's pictures and step by step instructions along with case studies. another excellent book!

Yes, defintely one of the nest reflex books! I love linking and use it in every single treatment!

Sara, you said that it taught you more than the one day course you did. Who was that with? Jan Williamson (who wrote the book) does a post grad course in Precision which is over 2 weekends, and for me was even more useful than the book.

Thats funny, I got that book too last week!! I also paid £22.50 from Amazon, but as I also got Vertical reflexology and an acupressure book 'Potent points' I didn't have to pay postage.

We'll have to practice together.
Acupressure is really great (body reflexology) I'm using it quite a bit now. ( I do know which points not to use for pregnant women, there are good ones for fertility)

Has anyone got the book Complementary Therapies for Physical Therapists by Robert Charman?

It was one of the books I was recommended this week when I was on a Meridians and Chakras in Reflexology course.

It was a one day course which had some linking movements in and then ended with balancing the chakras on the feet.

It was a really lovely day and they did give us a book list and just wondered if anyone had heard of this one.

Ok, call me stupid, but what exactly is precision reflexology?, and while i'm on this subject what is vertical reflexology?

Precision reflexology is a branch of Reflexology created by Prue Hughes and now taught by Jan Williamson. The School of Precision Reflexology is in Devon and does the AoR pracitioners certificate as well as post grad courses for any qualified reflexologist, as I did. The reflexes in Precision are slighly different to standard reflex (more precise?!) but the main aprt of it is linking, which is gently holding two or more reflexes and sensing and balancing the energy. Many of the links work with the endocrine system and it is a way or working with the chakras and emotions too. Although the links are gentle and no firm pressure is used, they often create the most intense reactions. Often my clients will comment on the links and ask what I'm doing as they are feeling a reaction. I know you are nearby me Kirstie so if you want to swap a treatment to get mroe of an idea I'd be more than happy!

I know a bit about vertical but I'm no expert so I'll hand over to someone else for that....

Vertical reflexology is where the client stands up and the reflexes are accessed from the top of the foot. It seems to be effective as the weight of standing compresses the reflexes, I think. I got a book by Lynne Booth.

Hope you sorted out that Salon, its really difficult to know what to do at times.
Are you working at home now.
